Power wash the bay and wash with dawn.....spray wax 2 times and wipe clean.....best way to do it...

I'll have my b20 ready for the 2013 season....it's been sitting for 2yrs hahaha

Chef 05-15-2012 07:16 AM

ive heard this a couple times.... hmmmm ive always just used a bay brush and purple power or orange degreaser... and a little elbow grease

SlowCivicHmm 05-15-2012 09:52 AM

have you seen my bay??????

Chef 05-15-2012 10:20 AM

Just the pictures you just posted looks nice.... wonder if Palm olive would have the same effect.... lol

SlowCivicHmm 05-15-2012 11:50 AM

dawn takes off all wax/grease etc etc........tip from my detailer...all soap isn't made the same....LOL

I can eat off my bay if I don't go off track....LOL

Chef 05-15-2012 12:34 PM

lol sounds good to me.... ill post before and afters..... now i just need to find a way to drop the motor without killing myself....

SlowCivicHmm 05-15-2012 01:41 PM

place motor/tranny combo on furniture dolly from harbor freight...make sure its level as it would sit in bay...

Raise car up via the exhuast tunnel with 5ft long 2x8 from jack point to jack point to distribute weight....

once motor rolls under bay........lower car......line up mounts.......

TIP: you might need to place on jack stands 3/4's of the way down to place jack else where like lower rad support if its the OEM original.....(do not try if welded on after accident etc etc)

I had to use 2 jacks....and go side to side.......the extra height of the dolly helps lower the car to its lowest point and get the 2 upper mounts in......then raise and do rear mount etc etc..

1 man job.....few hours........I wrench alone....reason I don't do it much now...got OLD!! hahahahhaa

have fun fellow track whore!

rudsone 05-15-2012 01:56 PM

purple power works wonders, i recommend it

SlowCivicHmm 05-15-2012 02:39 PM

All that stuff kills your clear coat...

bad enought honda barely sprays the bay well enough to look good........I got my painted and have only used dawn and this all natural degreaser my detailer uses from space age....

BUT YES PURPLE MAGIC is good for cleaning a motor out of the car......wheels wells and brake area...........

<---I clean my race car...sue me :-)

Chef 05-15-2012 07:03 PM

yeah i've always been the same way i wrench alone due to not having enough real time to set aside so ill walk outside every so often and wrench around my current schedule and responsibilities.... although im woorking something out where i can get a little more me and car time... the wife gets jelly.... lol no accident in the front so i SHOULDbe ok to raise from the front ill try a few different things see what i can come up with....

Chef 05-15-2012 07:05 PM

Nothing wrong with cleaning a race car... i thought about it and figured i would have regreted not cleaning it at the time so its getting done right the first time

SlowCivicHmm 05-15-2012 08:21 PM

track dirt is ok........OIL and road grime is KILLLER!!

eg-Rat 05-15-2012 08:44 PM

:biggrin:got the ac working!

eg-Rat 05-15-2012 08:53 PM

Oh and FedEx delivered 4 new kyb struts for it!

92HatchSi 05-16-2012 03:10 AM

Slapped on my CF duckbill i got from another member tonight!

Chef 05-16-2012 07:51 AM

Track dirt gives you 2 hp for OZ DUH lol i can respect a car with track dirt on it.... even if its from going 1-4 off.... lol

damn you i have been looking for one for my hatch lol trade me lol

projectaccord 05-16-2012 08:38 AM

Anyone else get stuck in that traffic caused by the accident? The i10 west was closed from the 143 so all traffic was forced to take the 143 north. It was so backed up my temp gauge hit 3/4. Maybe its time for a lower temp thermostat and an aluminum dual core radiator...

Dead Bird 05-16-2012 08:56 AM

friend is sitting in it right now. gonna make him late for class

SlowCivicHmm 05-16-2012 12:29 PM

I hate waiting on parts....

pending wheel spacers to run my rota's w/RS3's........HURRY UP!!!

CLUTCH CLUTCH CLUTCH!!!!!! arg!

92HatchSi 05-16-2012 10:02 PM

New rear main is in now. Was gunna button up a new clutch kit but had the wrong flywheel, old clutch still had a lot of life so decided once i get a new driver axle and lightened flywheel ill put in the new kit.
Glad the seal is done though now!

Chef 05-16-2012 10:55 PM

Dead Bird 05-16-2012 11:17 PM

Next time engine comes out, doing that.
Hopefully a 2.4 goes in!

Chef 05-16-2012 11:42 PM

yeah i figured what the hell why not......... motor was out anyways why not just clean it up a little im giving it a day or so with the ceiling fan on it to dry JUST IN CASE..... and ill detail the b18 a bit before it goes in.... not to bad looking though reminds me of my Rex..... SIGH..... except that car would be MUCH faster them this one.... but torque will help on track... ill just be great full for the fact ill have a Honda back on the road again... i need a hoist though the whole dropping out of the bottom is ridiculous...

failedabortion 05-16-2012 11:44 PM

No to a lower temp thermostat, go to a fullsize with two pullers.

C.R.A.Y. 05-17-2012 12:43 AM

I don't understand all these people with cooling issues. Especially ones with after market radiators and what not. Stock dual core on my car boosting the shit out of it mid day with no temp issues.

chicken bandit 05-17-2012 01:23 AM

I have no cooling issues either with the stock Ed radiator

Also I didn't see any smoke from my exhaust on the dyno. Did u

failedabortion 05-17-2012 02:15 AM

He is running a high comp ratio so naturally it would give off a little more heat...but ya I agree a properly maintained cooling system shouldn't have issues unless there's problems elsewhere. Only engine I've had problems with is my 460 but that was bouncing off the rev limiter hitting maybe 25mph tops in the middle of july wheeling.

projectaccord 05-17-2012 03:02 AM

i was thinking about doing this too, but i wanted to reinstall the ac system for the summer time. im probably just going to get my accord going and use it as a heat killer when my daughter rides with me. i dont use ac when shes not in the car anyways.
im hoping it was just an air bubble since everthing in the cooling system was new or working properly snce the rebuild and the tune. im curious as to if i were to retune and run a little richer if it would be another preventive precaution to take. it does lean out a little (16:1ish) at lower rpm's when putting a load on it. im going to pull the plugs again and see how they look. my overflow reservoir was empty when i got home after driving in that crappy traffic, bu the radiator was still full, so im hoping it was just a bubble.

IS-Frank 05-17-2012 05:06 AM

i washed mine....and it couldve been an air bubble i noticed mine go up a while ago while i was stuck on th i17 when there was a crash that closed 4 lanes let it cool down checekd the fluids and everything was fine re-bleed the system havent had an issue since "knock on wood"

Chef 05-17-2012 01:15 PM

hopefully i can fill the empty bay tonight.... so ready to turn this on and have a running honda again

Rolow 05-17-2012 01:52 PM

getting ready to tuck my oem engine harness through the heater hose hole. Any tips or tricks?

IS-Frank 05-17-2012 08:00 PM

Don't fuck up

eg-Rat 05-17-2012 08:02 PM

I tried out the full throttle shift- ness! That was fun. Till I got to the construction and thought I was going to take down some temp sand bag signs in between lanes on the new asphalt seal and we started to slide. Oops. Then it was really fun!

Dead Bird 05-17-2012 08:09 PM

I fell asleep and took one out before. What a mess that was

rudsone 05-17-2012 08:29 PM

label everything

projectaccord 05-17-2012 09:57 PM

You shouldnt have to cut anything at all if you do it patiently. Pull the harness through the firewall and unwrap it all. Itll make it easier for you to rerun everything where you want without having to cut anythig.

projectaccord 05-17-2012 09:58 PM

Which would be more effective for cooling? Half size aluminum radiator or a full size dc integra radiator with 2 pull fans?

Dead Bird 05-18-2012 02:00 AM

That's right where I'm at.

Do I get an aluminum dual or triple core half-size, or oem rsx.
I had the rsx one on there before, and it ran much cooler around town, and even on the freeway than this one currently does.

I think for now I'm gonna try the stock rsx radiator. I'm perfectly fine driving around town, I just need better cooling on the track...

Colten79 05-18-2012 06:31 AM

I say full size aluminum one.. that's what im running right now, and I haven't had any heating issues at all, even with 12/15 minutes sessions of racing at Musselman.. Shit, I didn't even come close.. And I'm not running a thermo either
