AMMFAB pic thread
well aarons got a thread so i figured it would be ok if i did one. for starters my name is mike, im 27 and im a detroit diesel engine tech by day actually night now. anyways ive been into the go fast seen for about 10 years now and about 6 years ago i wanted to build an intake manifold for my gti. well luckily my work has a tig welder, so a few weeks of dicking around after work and i was able to lay beads on aluminum (which looked like bird shit but i thought they were damn good back then) so i went ahead and built an intake manifold. i then wanted to do more stuff to my car on my own like porting the head, so i took a stab at that too. well 6 years, lots of time, research and practice later ive gotten a bit better then back then and do this steadily on the side out of my garage now. i primarily deal with neons/srt's and ever so often dsms but im always up for doing new stuff. i havent done much steel so thats not my strong point i do tons of aluminum though. hover the next few days ill post up some stuff ive done in the past and stuff thats been more recent, the shitty thing is there isnt alot of variety because i primarily deal with the mentioned vehicles above. owell no biggie there, feel free to comment. mods if theres any issues pleas let me know.

Really nice work man !!
Iam digging it. |
really good work.. nice manifolds!!
|
Soooo you have flowbench at where you work or what?
I like your work man, props to you! how come no Honda work? |
That some nice work.
Do you work here locally? Any dyno results of the heads? |
i dont have a flow bench unfortunately, i have ray at basko do all mine, so these flow results are not biased in any way. i drop off a head, they flow it, i pay, they give me my head and printout. i wish i had one, then i could do just the smallest stweaks and see what they do to flow........ and flow the intake manifolds too. i have not done any honda stuff yet......... mainly becasue theres so many people that do honda head work nationally ( portflow, rlz, head games, endyn, etc) that not many people will trust somebody theyve never heard of. actually i take that back i did a d15 or 16 head for my machinist a few weeks ago, it was nothing special, ill see if i can get it and gets some pics of it tomorrow when i go up there. anyways thats basically why. but then about a month ago i was up at tri tec with my machinist and was talking to henry joe and a few other people and they said there were no locals that do good head porting, so i thought hmmm, ok =) and no back to back dynos yet

if I still had my srt-4 Id let you go to town on it lol
Work looks really good man  Besides intake manifolds/heads what else do you plan to mess around with? |
oh ill do anything but the above stuff is what i primarily do. ill post up some more pics when i get home.

NIce, do you have a shoP?

nope, i work out of my one car garage, technically its a 2 car but my drag car is in it also so i work basically out of a 1 car garage area. i cant afford to open a shop. mike |
LOL.. Mike, you are a funny motherfucker.. Get a fucking bender already. So many pie cuts, LOL..
This dude is a bad ass. I bust his balls because hes a buddy, but he has done a little work on the Mighty Max for me, as well as my old Hayabusa. Mike, you have pics of the head repair?? |
you cant really bend aluminum though. i mean you caannnnn, but i wouldn't wanna have to pay for that bender. l
mike pm'ing you |
I know, I just bust his balls about 90* pie cuts, lol.. Hes an awesome fabricator.

|
how much do you usually charge for a port job
|
it ranges depending on the amount of work. but my "street port" with valve job resurface and assembly starts at 600.00
mike |
Hell yeah mike. I'm so glad to see your work. Didn't realize you did so much port work either. I'm digging the multi-talents.
|
Do you have a flow bench machine? How much would you charge to port and polish a B-Series head and do a valve job?
|
sick fab! that nova is insane!! props 2u
|
yes sir, theres ups and downs with my head work, sometimes ill be fabbing away for a few months with no headwork orders and like now, when ive done 4 heads in about a month and havent fabbed anything in about 2 months. i actually got my start with head porting and then the fabbing came shortly after. i can never make up my mind which one i llike to do better, and recently i started building engines too (but that is what i do by trade so i dont know whay that didnt come sooner) B16- no i dont have a flow bench. i always take my stuff to basko and have ray flow all my heads. i found somebody else though with a SF600. so i just dropped the eco head off over there yesterday because im in surprise and this guy is in phx vs driving all the way out to basko in gilbert. im pretty sure ill probably stick with this new guy though he seems a little more friendly i guess then ray. as for the porting...... all my aluminum 4 cyl heads have the same pricing, which starts at 600.00 for a street port, vj, resurface and assembly and can go up from there. flowbenching is 75.00 extra as i have to out source for that. and im always up for trading too, thats the perks of working for ur self lol. again thanks guys mike |
