I am in this thread I am a machinist by trade I run a Quickmill Intimadator 120 with Fanuc 21i controls, 1000psi thru the tool coolant, 4k rpm spindle, and 600 ipm rapid transverse. I program it with MasterCam and I am MasterCam certified. I very fluent with Hass CNC. If only Joe at Locash would hire me to run the ones he has in his shop. Or I would work at Hasport. I will get some pics on here soon

alright about time. im the fng at my place learning the trade. but currently running production on aerospace using a fadal 4020 4th/5th axis. plus learning mastercam by playing around a little with it. its insane what is possible with a 4th/5th.

88todab16crx 06-09-2011 02:35 PM

Shit Anything is possible with 4th and 5th axis. I went to Gateway to get trained for MasterCam and I bought my own MasterCam so if I leave here at work it goes with me.

95integra 06-09-2011 02:59 PM

haha me to its in my comp now. big ass book man.
and ya 4th/5th is the way to go.
or an lmx! haha

95integra 06-09-2011 03:01 PM

oh and 10k spindle speed isnt that bad either!lol

PENTAGRAM_OF_EVIL 06-09-2011 10:30 PM

Gateway Communitany College, the machine shop there is the best in AZ better than ASU Polytenic. I go back soon for Solidworks 3D solid modeling. When I am done I will have a duel AAS in Industrial Technology its a little more than 6k for all schooling not including books.

95integra 06-10-2011 02:43 PM

no school for the trade. common sence doesnt hurt though,

PENTAGRAM_OF_EVIL 06-10-2011 04:18 PM

I will have to check what they have there to offer.

So you just onow everything then.

88todab16crx 06-11-2011 07:21 AM

I was machinist for a long time. Trust me school helps alot especially the GD&T. I am very fluent with a cmm, mill and lathe level 1,2, and 3 MasterCam certified. Not to mention going to Solidworks certified and I already have various NIMS certifications along with a six sigma black belt. And when all done a duel Associates Degree in Industrial Design Techology and Industrial Production Technology. There are some things you need school for, so I could be your next boss.

88todab16crx 06-11-2011 07:24 AM

delsol type r go ahead school is definetly worth it.

95integra 06-11-2011 05:41 PM

ohhh we got this all wrong. i dont know shit .lol. im learning the trade. that's all i was saying. i plan on going to school for metallurgical studies, more welding and reading through and playing with my master cam software. i was not at all saying i knew everything nor that school was worthless. simple misunderstanding.....

PENTAGRAM_OF_EVIL 06-11-2011 07:05 PM

Very nice. I still am not sure what i want to go for yet.

It seems it was a misunderstanding. What school are you going to.

88todab16crx 06-11-2011 07:17 PM

It was how you said there is nothing wrong with learning it yourself I know plenty of people that can walk circles around me and they never had any schooling. But the schooling has made everything make sense at what I do.
