And you have to reset it...you can disconnect the battery and hold the brake pedal down for 30 seconds or use a scanner.

Even after you change the cat the light is going to have to be reset, if you reset it the way Failedabortion said, make sure you have the radio code if you have a stock stereo. Otherwise just use a scanner to clear it.
