96-00 civic fuel door won't open

Hello,

I went to flick the fuel door pop switch in my 96-00 civic hatch. I heard a click, and it didn't open my fuel door. It appears to be stuck or broken now. Is this a common issue? Never had it happen before. Also, is there a way to open the fuel door in an emergency?

Thanks!

FYI, i utilized the google search bar along with searching in honda tech. I literally found 2 threads total for a 96-00 civic. I don't know if there are any difference with an 01-05 civic or a 92-95 civic. However, I scanned a few of those threads and videos too. They don't seem to be helpful unfortunately due to the way they access their fuel pop cables. shitty titties..

Great question! I tried to have my girlfriend pop the door from the passenger seat while I used two credit cards (So I don't scratch my paint any more than it already is, and to add strength, lol). No luck. Unfortunately, 96-00 civic hatchbacks have annoying ass rear interior panels. I might have to rip them off. Bleh! I'll have to scope it again tomorrow when there is light. I'll snap a few pictures of the menace.

Fixed it this morning before, and had to get gas. I didn't get time to take pictures. I will snap photos on my break to explain what happen in case others run into the issue.

So... to start, I located the back taillight panel to see if I can find the gas door cable and pull it to "pop" it.

Gave it a swift kick to the chode, via (unclipped and popped it off)
BAM!

Whats' this?! a cable....

YUP! Found the fucker! It goes in/ out with a twist.

Mine fell out from years of use. I simply re-installed it and it was fixed! :)
