Started a cut in January, was weighing 218 now at 207.

Now my question is usually how long does it take to start noticing you are losing fat in the stomach? I see progress everywhere but there lol. I do abs or core three times a week, I guess I just need to be patient.

Spec C 02-24-2014 11:15 AM

It is typically the last place to go. You will notice it if you are keeping track of skinfolds, and circumference, but visually speaking, it will likely take a while before you notice anything profound.

Fix.it.again.Tony 02-24-2014 11:18 AM

my gf is the same way, after she stopped riding horses weekly her abs kinda softened up, and now that she is working out with me, she is impatient lol

stormsilverek 02-24-2014 11:34 AM

How would I go about keeping track of skinfolds, I am guessing about the circumference it would just be me measuring it weekly or every two weeks?

Spec C 02-24-2014 11:44 AM

You would need to buy a set of calipers.

As for circumference, yes, measure it every few weeks. Need a tailors tape.

stormsilverek 02-24-2014 11:46 AM

ok what caliper would you recommend me purchasing? and I have a tailors tape at home. Thanks for helping me out.

Spec C 02-24-2014 11:48 AM

Doesn't have to be anything super fancy. Something like this is fine.

Currently on a cut, January 1st weighed in at 218. Currently at 207. Intend to do the cut till May or June. Drop down to 185-190. Slowly making progress.

SiR Mikey 02-25-2014 01:36 PM

Lol shit, you're right. Now we just have to get 1bad in on it

Fix.it.again.Tony 02-25-2014 03:08 PM

that figure is where I hope to be, it is difficult for me as I am 5'3 to get the V shape lol

stormsilverek 02-25-2014 07:28 PM

Haha it has been a struggle definitely to get there but putting in work is the only way.

Tomorrow I will attempt 225 deadlifting, second time I deadlift with heavy weight. Was trying to work on form more then anything to not hurt myself the first few times. Hope to be deadlifting 315 by end of March, I have been reading that you tend to lose some strength while on a cut, don't know how true that is but I will keep pushing forward.

failedabortion 02-26-2014 08:47 PM

Keep lifting and you shouldn't lose much strength, don't get to worried if you do though as it will come back quick.

Currently down to 190lbs from like 215ish around New Years. Dropped my carbs down low for a couple weeks and started feeling like shit. Doing a refeed once a week now and feeling a lot better. Feel like 180lbs will be a good weight to end my cut and start working on my lifting goals instead.

stormsilverek 02-27-2014 10:21 AM

Yeah that is what my buddy was telling me, he said keep lifting and once you are ready to maintain and then bulk you will regain the strength pretty quick.

I am slowly cutting out carbs every two weeks I count my macros so it has been really helping out and making adjustments as needed. I just need to invest in a body fat caliper and start tracking my progress with that along with my weight, weighed in at 205 this morning, down 13 pounds since January 2nd.

failedabortion 02-27-2014 12:32 PM

You can google pictures of body fat percentages to get an idea.

I didn't intentionally cut out carbs, just kept forgetting about them in my meals. Went through a break up so have just been making chicken/broccoli and keeping fats up with peanut butter lol.

stormsilverek 02-27-2014 12:36 PM

I struggle with meeting my daily fat intake, supposed to be eating no more then 75 grams of fat a day. But never have a issue with protein though or carbs. But slowly but surely weight is steadily dropping.

2 things

1 - My gf is having trouble trying to do basic squats even without weights. I try to guide her with the basics like keeping feet flat and not letting your knees go past your feet, she either doesn't have the balance or something because she can't keep her feet flat. Any tips?

2 - We have a 10lb medicine ball, any good suggestions on 1v1 core workouts besides the toss and handoff?

Spec C 02-27-2014 03:34 PM

Post a video of her squat. Can't coach form without a video. Can pm it to me if you don't want it posted on this cesspool lol

stormsilverek 02-27-2014 06:13 PM

Spec, any chance I can text you a video of my deadlift I did yesterday. Not sure I did it properly

usdm420 02-28-2014 01:01 PM

Posted this in the wrong thread:

I haven't been to the gym in about a week. Gonna take off next week as well. Once the time changes for everyone else, I get to go back to my steady work schedule. Once that happens on 3/9, I'm going to hit the gym hard as fuck for the next 5 months or so.....but I feel like a lethargic pile of shit missing 2 weeks.

failedabortion 02-28-2014 08:05 PM

Try some hip stretches and maybe go wider with the stance?

Weighted planks, leg raises, rope crunches(no idea of the correct name) for abs.

Fix.it.again.Tony 02-28-2014 10:08 PM

She's doing weighted lunges, hamstring curls, leg extension, and leg raises. We also do sets of 20 second wall sits. Just can't get her to squat

crx88 03-01-2014 12:20 AM

stand straight, look up when going down usually works.

SiR Mikey 03-01-2014 11:06 AM

Video from the meet last weekend. Wish I would have started this sooner, I had a lot of fun and met some awesome people.

Spec C 03-01-2014 12:24 PM

Great job man. I knew you had it in you.

usdm420 03-03-2014 08:09 AM

Good stuff Mike

Fix.it.again.Tony 03-03-2014 09:06 AM

she does but her feet won't stay flat for some reason

Spec C 03-03-2014 09:55 AM

Meaning what? Her heels lift up?

Dsquared Upholstery 03-03-2014 10:15 AM

Personally, I would just leave her. If she can't do a squat, she cant be trusted.

Fix.it.again.Tony 03-03-2014 11:09 AM

yea, so when I try to have her keep her feet flat she falls backward,

she's not out of shape or deformed lol, she does all other exercises fine with no apparent lack of motion. I don't think she has bad balance, this has been very perplexing

Fix.it.again.Tony 03-03-2014 11:10 AM

women in general can't be trusted, but she can drive anything with wheels, and is a fantastic cook :tits:
