flashpro...what do I do with it?

I'm going to get Flashpro, that is a given but what do I do with it? I know what it does but do I just start downloading tuning? Sorry if this is a stupid question. I'm stock for now, just has ksports put on by BBN! Love em.

Is there a stock Flashpro configuration I can download?

AZ_CIVIC 07-12-2014 08:56 AM

Call Joe at Locash, he can explain what you can do.

AZWhiteSi2011 07-12-2014 01:00 PM

700 bucks to tune my car? Whoa.

He must be really really good.

Chuck Chainz 07-12-2014 01:09 PM

That's cheap!

AZ_CIVIC 07-12-2014 02:50 PM

Did you call him? Good, he only has a 1400 horsepower 8.2 second Integra. Anyway I thought you said you just had some questions?

AZWhiteSi2011 07-12-2014 03:41 PM

I haven't called yet. I like the way his method sounds though. I know you get what you pay for in regards to tuning.

I had forgotten how expensive this hobby is!

A thorough and safe tune is where it's at.

AZ_CIVIC 07-12-2014 04:34 PM

Joe also posted that crazy price to weed out the junk but it is also because he focuses his time now on his CNC business. Just call him and ask questions maybe he can work something out with you.

AZWhiteSi2011 07-12-2014 05:12 PM

Thank you. I will.

Fix.it.again.Tony 07-13-2014 08:28 AM

Joe's tunes are the best, my car ran great for 4+ years on his tune

CB7_PHX 07-15-2014 09:20 PM

Well it's not like a tune gets bored and wonders off... hahaha

C.R.A.Y. 07-15-2014 10:35 PM

There are plenty of capable tuners in the metro area, there is also Tim at xact and tony at ums who is an excellent tuner.

Fix.it.again.Tony 07-15-2014 11:03 PM

No but a good tune won't break your shit over time

vtakdis 07-15-2014 11:31 PM

Im assuming by your user name its for a 9th gen si.. if so e-tune with Vit Viper, i think its 140$ if you car is n/a think the whole process took about 3 weeks. He sends you a base tune, download it, do a pull with the car while data logging and send it back to him for adjustments.

Here the link

C.R.A.Y. 07-16-2014 07:44 AM

I wouldn't recommend tuning via the stock o2 sensor like vit does.... They are usually off a full Afr point compared to a wideband sensor.

AZWhiteSi2011 07-16-2014 07:01 PM

I was going to go with vit but I'm on the fence.

Planning on the invidia rh and q300 along with the hybrid racing cai. Then perhaps the skunk2 intake manifold a while afterward. I wish i had the tools to install this stuff...and the back. Paying shop prices to install the parts is tough. I know the value of a tune. Tony at ums tuned my big turbo srt4. 434 hp 444 tq. It was amazing.

vtakdis 07-16-2014 11:23 PM

I had great sucks with vit on my fa5, had a megan header with a high flow cat, greddy exhaust and skunk 2 cai set up (when we started tuning had an aem sri) car pulled great driveabilty was improved 100% none of that rev hang bull shit.I bought the flashpro/e-tune combo from him made it 760 shipped so 60 for the tune

C.R.A.Y. 07-16-2014 11:50 PM

And if you put car on a dyno you'd be surprised how off the tune was

AZWhiteSi2011 07-17-2014 05:28 AM

When you say 'off', what does that mean? AFRs?

C.R.A.Y. 07-17-2014 11:03 AM

Means everything.

DAallday 07-17-2014 02:02 PM

i notice you didnt mention yourself.... what a nice guy.

i've heard nothing but nightmares about tim @ xact

AZ_CIVIC 07-17-2014 02:09 PM

Nightmares is being nice.

BDD 07-18-2014 10:11 AM

You of all people should know a dyno is not the end all of tuning. A dyno tune is a good starting point but once on the street or track the tune will need more adjusting to be spot on.

BDD 07-18-2014 10:17 AM

Knowing how to read plugs is better then any tuning tool out there.....

king06 07-19-2014 05:04 PM

I agree with both you and Cray. But I think his right, the stock sensors aren't fast enough to be precise, especially tuning via emails. Or unless you have motec or aem with all there sensors? That's what joecahs told me anyways.

C.R.A.Y. 07-20-2014 04:53 PM

1. Some etuners rely on the factory o2 in datalogs to determine afr's. 06+ Honda's don't have a full wideband o2 sensor, very, very rarely they are accurate in areas other than stoich. So your air fuel ratio in anything other than part throttle will be a roll of the dice.
2. These are variable cam angle motors. There is no real way on an etune for you to know if the commanded cam angle is working for you better than another. Yes if you're completely stock the likelihood of knowing what works will go up, once you get to aftermarket cams you have no standard to go off of.
3. Setting ignition advance isn't to practical reading a datalog to set ignition timing. You basically have to go off what "should" be good.
4. Some etuners will argue that their virtual dyno is accurate enough to set cam angles and ignition timing. Should take this with a grain of salt as this isn't a consistent environment to test in. If you're getting an etune chances are you're getting a revision a day. Environmental conditions change day to day, your virtual dyno isn't going to account for this, so numbers can be scewed. There is a reason that dynos have weather stations, this is to keep the test environment of as many variables as possible. You could make a timing change on a tune, but the road was on a different incline, or the temperature was 20 degrees cooler and you etuner would think it was a good change cause the datalog said so.

To put it in cliff notes there is a reason your etune will run you 150 bucks and a dyno tune 2-4 times of that.

BDD 07-20-2014 05:30 PM

I never said anything about an etune. Your just coming across like the dyno is the end all for tuning. You think joe tunes his car on the dyno and never makes changes at the track, lol.

BDD 07-20-2014 05:50 PM

Like I said already, a dyno is only a tuning tool, but a car tuned on the track with proper plug reading is far superior...

C.R.A.Y. 07-20-2014 05:51 PM

See the thing is we were talking about an etune compared to dyno tune and you came in here on a self indulged tangent to try and raise your self esteem.

BDD 07-20-2014 05:56 PM

Damn you got me all figured out, hahaha.

C.R.A.Y. 07-20-2014 05:58 PM

Still bitter after all these months after pointing out your poor welds and laughing at your chipped ecus's? Must be boring in Tucson.
