r12 or r134, which do i have
how is a sure way to find out what you have. i had a 93 accord that had a sticker saying it had been retrofitted.
i currently have a 90 accord with no such sticker, is it safe to assume it has been retrofitted? |
i doubt it has been retrofitted. you can get the kits at your local parts store for reasonable prices. but you cant get the r 12 any mo. tis illegal.
|
If the fittings where u add the refrigerant are threaded its a R12 system. If its got compression fittings its R134a . Assuming nobody did some shady ass ac work and mixed the 2 systems .
|
My 90 has been retrofitted at some point cuz it has r134a fittings but there is no retrofit sticker :(
R12 is only illegal to manufacture and sell in the US. There's nothing illegal about having a stash for maintenance of your automobile. Most good shops will have a refrigerant identifier kit. If you are already running r12 I would stick with it as it works better |
thanks for the help guys. i'll take a look... threaded fitting = r12 non-threaded= r134... cool
or i can make a trip to mexico! |
or craigslist
|
I have a 30lbs tank of r12 Dupont if you wanna buy it haha its brand new never used.
But 134a retro will work just fine. 42deg is plenty. |
a good way to tell is if the reciever dryer looks new compared to other components, thats usually a must when doing a retrofit. you can also put an analyzer up to it and find out.

quanto quieres?
