motor weight?

what's the difference in weight between a single cam and b dually?

like d16 and a GSR?

or an average weight difference, is it a lot?

Chinky 04-05-2007 09:38 AM

I know a B16a is 310 pounds with trans. A B18c1 is 370 with trans. IDK about the D.

Chinky 04-05-2007 12:59 PM

ChicagoMike 04-05-2007 01:16 PM

Hahahha, those numbers are accurate, I'll try to find the link again.

:offtopic: Motors not too shaby. I was getting a idle issue worked out this morning but all seems fine now. There's still power to be pulled out of it.:p I'm 95% sure I'll be at the track Fri night.:offtopic2:

DJ NeX 04-05-2007 01:24 PM

a type-R weighs 60 more lbs than a b16??? That's insane!

ChicagoMike 04-05-2007 01:41 PM

Hahahaha, dont shoot the messenger, I'm just relaying info I had read.:)

Chinky 04-05-2007 01:47 PM

Chinky 04-05-2007 01:49 PM

really looking for single cam weight. don't worry bout the gsr soooo much.

post whorin ftw! ops

ChicagoMike 04-05-2007 01:52 PM

We didnt go all crazy, just made sure the A/F was okay throughout the RPM's. It hit 210whp and 150tq.

When all's said and done, I think it'll go 220 and 160.

Chinky 04-05-2007 02:41 PM

time slips too please :)

nice GL on friday

ChicagoMike 04-05-2007 02:55 PM

First off....thanks!!

Second, all the info I've been reading puts the D series right around 270 pounds with trans. Numbers probably not dead on, but pretty damn close.

Chinky 04-06-2007 07:52 AM

yay!

so then the single cam + tranny weighs about 120 + less depending on what b series you compare too. thanks mike ur a life saver :0

mooshin 04-08-2007 04:11 PM

To my knowledge a B16 checks in about 70lbs heavier than a D16.

ILIKETODRIVE 04-08-2007 10:52 PM

A D-Series trans weighs about 65-70 pounds. A D-Series longblock weighs about 190-200 pounds.

Without fluids, of course.

Chinky 04-08-2007 11:06 PM

ok so the reason i ask is i'm trying to figure the power to weight ratio comparing these too. how much of a difference the lighter motor compared to the heavier is gonna be.

you the think like the 70 + lbs is gonna make a big difference? i know it will make a difference. but will it be a lot?

ILIKETODRIVE 04-08-2007 11:25 PM

WHATEVER the difference in weight between a B16 and D16 is, it is enough that Progress Group made 2 different drop springs for not swapped and B-swapped Civic's.

Chinky 04-11-2007 08:19 AM

ok... ummm... i guess my question comes down to power to weight.

i understand that there is a difference and not very interested in the exact poundage.

a 200whp single cam vs a 200whp dually. sohc < dohc

but i mean i interested in how much a difference when u get to some like 200whp single cam and a 250whp dually.

not the exact numbers but just to give an idea of what i am looking for in terms of what the difference will be with the less weight.

HEADSHOT 04-11-2007 09:32 AM

have fun getting 200 whp outta a single cam... you gots a turbo?

Chinky 04-11-2007 09:56 AM

i think it'll do 300 + maybe 350

yes turbo

HEADSHOT 04-11-2007 10:24 AM

if you get 300 outta a sohc. thats all you need for on the street

Chinky 04-11-2007 10:50 AM

no such thing ass enough... hoping for 300+ tho...

what!? it's a heavy car
