its a eg vx hatch
hc's and nox pass
but the co's are too high


ive gotten a new ecu
a o2 sensor
new fuel tank
new fuel pump
new fuel filter
plugs, wires

its got a d15b vtec swap but vtec doesnt work

anybody have any ideas on why my piece of shit eg hatch wont pass?

How about replacing your catalitc converter

is there a way to check it and see if its working correctly

if is a stock one i'm sure you need it by now

I got no I dea how to test it

it runs soo clean if the cat was messed up id think it would be running like hell

it has 2 cats on it one by the 02 sensor and another under the car in line

the nox an hc's are fine

If it's passing NOx, the cat is working just fine.

High NOx means that combustion temps are too high or that the cat isn't functioning properly.

High HC is usually fuel-related.

High CO is usually ignition related.

Make sure timing is dead-on. I think it is only 12* or 14* BTDC.
Change the cap and rotor.
Change PCV.
Change air filter.

BTW, you should only have 1 catalytic converter; the one near the engine. There isn't supposed to be another one under the car IIRC.

How bad did you fail, what were your results???? If you barely failed wait til you have like a quarter tank of gas, then go to ace hardware and get a gallon of Denatured alcohol, If you failed bad then try unplugging an injector.

there is also stuff called guaranteed to pass you can get from autozone, ive never used it before but have heard some good results

it used to be 12.15, 12.00 is passing
now its up to 23
i tried the guarentee stuff and ive also tried alcohol but i had over half a tank

theres a huge hill on the dyno and the car doesnt have enough power to make it up the hill
so i dont think unplugging an injector is an option

A lot of people have gone through the same thing. Your results can help narrow down what is at fault. High Hydrocarbons etc.

I've had some buddys when I use to live in cali that ran denatured alcohol and they were both fined for using it because it showed up. Haha when I moved down to az last year they just came out with the new EVAP system. Its hard as fuck to pass even illegaly. I remember when I use to pay $150 to $250 just to pass illegaly in cali. But it was well worth it so I could keep on driving my love

If VTEC is not working you might want to see if there is a CEL. just plug it in and make sure there isn't one.

Cap and rotor is a good idea to replace, and also make sure you have the correct gap on the plugs.

Guaranteed to pass didn't work for me. I also didn't get my money back... fuck that product.

Unplug the #3 fuel injector clip off the injector. I couldn't pass my lsvtec for the life of me. Pulled the clip off and just had it sitting on the injector, not clipped in, and the car passed with almost zero emissions :) Pulled out off the rollers, got my paper. Drove 7 feet, popped the hood and put the injector clip back in.

This was in 2003 and in Tucson. It was also the middle of July at about 4pm so maybe they didn't care and just wanted to go home. I haven't done emissions in Phoenix, yet.

its not a POS shit like that happens to everyone bro try to get the timing done, new cat, and tune up (wires, cap and rotor, etc..) dont unplug an injector it might make you pass but its illegal I did that and it didnt pass but my friend works at the emissions place. Do you have anything aftermarket done to it?

i got it hooked up to a sniffer and with an injector unplugged it "passed" so im gonna try the injector deal but i dont know if it will have the power to do the rollers?
