turbo newb

So I'm thinking about possibly boosting my 99 hatch, to put a little more pep in her step. My first question is what do you guys think of buying used turbo parts, and also what do you think of this parts list/set up?

Also stock motor set up...

DENSO 410 INJECTORS
GREDDY BLOW OFF VALVE**
Intercooler w piping
AEM fuel rail
Garrett .50 turbo
Tial wastegate
P fab exhaust manifold

Don't forget feed/return lines, also tap oil pan. Your clutch and mount probably won't hold very long either.

You dont need a fuel rail, stick with s300 or Neptune rtp(lots of people tune those, Cray, locash, ums, etc.

Used parts are okay, turbos are tricky. For low boost? I guess a Greddy bov is fine.

You can get RC injectors pretty cheap now a days. Or spend a little more and get fic, id or fid.

Also mounts and stuff like jspecsi mentioned. Hasport is having a black Friday sale, 33% off and free shipping. For any part, including a clutch, Rcs garage has the best pricing, trust me. Just got a comp clutch from them.

Thanks guys for the couple helpful posts. Im just trying to get parts together and may attempt the install but may also have a shop just handle it dpending... r.c's garage rebuild the motor and install the turbo kit?

Aaron at TSR builds some awesome turbo motors and can do your turbo kit no problem. He built my motor, Locash motor, etc. It is another option.

Thanks, I will look into them. One question I have is, rebuild the d series I have for boost and then turbo it, or build up an b18 ls and then turbo that? Any advice/opinions?

king06 11-30-2014 09:54 AM

Really depends on your goals. Its getting easier to make power now a days. But if you have to start from scratch, I would suggest b series. The build prices are the same for parts, internals, turbos, etc. K series are a lot stronger than b series, a stock k can make 400-500 on stock internals, all comes down to money.
