misfiring need some help

long story short i have a misfire
ive changed the spark plugs and checked the ignition coils and they are all good
ive done a fuel cleaner still has it
the weird thing is its not all the time it comes and goes
like yesterday it was really bad its like bogging down on me but today ran really good

i got the codes for misfire in cylinder 1 3 4 and the catalytic converter(that one i know i have DCRH on)last a bad knock sensor
ive read in other forums that it can cause a misfire but any ideas would be great

most shops want 85 bucks just to diagnose it dont really feel like paying that much to just find out what wrong with my car

have you replace distributors cap and rotor?

GtecD16 12-06-2012 10:57 PM

Ep3 don't use distributors we have ignition coils

Had a em2 that did the same. Sometimes would run fine and other times miss fire codes would come up.... I did change the knock sensor and the problem never came back but not 100% sure on that cuz i sold the car...

ill have to swap mine out it might just be that since i know the code showed up for a bad knock sensor

Might need a valve lash adjustment. Itll throw a cel if its too tight. I had a Cylinder 2 misfire.

it could be bad gas or a clogged injectors. also when you check your ignition coil did you have some resistance

808SPDZNE 03-09-2013 09:42 PM

there is no such thing as bad gas from a gas station causing clogged injectors. atleast 1 in a million chance, no. primary ignition coil should be 0-5 ohms and secondary is 5-15 k ohms. sounds more like a bad knock sensor or crank sensor.

Since this post I replaced the knock sensor and still nothing. I then replaced the fuel injectors and boom problem fixed, until the other day started up again so I am thinking one of these went bad. Just got my newer 630cc in the mail will throw these on and hope the problem is resolved

Did you replace the injector seals when you did them? if you used the old ones then i would check into maybe one of them being torn and causing a leak.

If you think it's your injecters try changing all your fuel filters aswell .....

I had a misfiring issue similar to this.. Check your cam sensors, and cam pulse wheels..
One of the teeth on my exhaust cam pulse wheel broke off a while back and it would cause it to mis on start up, and sometimes in low rpms (while under a load).
oh no you di-int
Lol

GtecD16 03-16-2013 01:06 AM

ep3 dont have fuel filters, its just a fuel bag inside of the fuel pump

GtecD16 03-16-2013 01:07 AM

i havnt tryed that yet, did you get a CEL code for that?
i do hear like a rattle somewhere from my engine at cruising speeds wonder if it might be that

tegg 05-18-2013 06:59 PM

Try to do a compression test. Sometimes that causes misfires

GtecD16 05-18-2013 07:48 PM

Ended up being a bad fuel pump
