Overheating Issue
My car keeps randomly over heating and seems to be losing coolant somewhere. The engine is a stock D16y7 getting close to 200k. Since the problem started occurring I have replaced the thermostat, coolant temperature switch, radiator cap, and I'm positive the radiator fan does in fact turn on. The overheating seems to be random and I cant seem to recognize a pattern triggering it. Also been watching for leaks etc. I'm out of ideas. Anyone have any further input on something I haven't checked/replaced/fixed yet?

I was experiencing the exact thing, turned out to be a small head gasket leak. of your losing coolant and it's not leaking then it's going into your combustion chamber or oil passage.

I was afraid that might be in the suggestions to check next

With that many miles, it happens. My civic blew the head gasket at 250-275k miles and my Integra at 220-230 ish.

Ya its been a trooper so far. Think its time to bite the bullet and just change the head gasket either way. That being said if anyone has any tips or knows a good write up for changing it that would be awesome

Anyone have good recommendations on where to have the head milled
|
I sent mine to AFM machining, it was close to me (west valley) Google them up they'll help you out

What did it run around if you dont mind me asking
|
My Y7 ran about 250ish plus Honda head gasket and intake manifold gasket and then I just used copper spray for the exh. manifold metal gasket
Milled, valve guides, valve job, and cleaning |
Got the the same job ^ but for B seires, $300 if I remember correctly
Might not need to be milled, just a resurface should be fine.... Don't forget to ask for a new cam gear seal as well. |
