R12-R134 system questions
Has anyone swapped a condenser from an r134 system into an r12 system that has had the retrofit done to it? My retrofit works to a point but I noticed the fins on the condenser are mostly closed which would explain the overly high pressure on the high side. I have a line on a condenser from a 95 and from looking at the diagrams I should be able to do it.
Anyone have hands on experience doing this? |
the condensor and lines are different between the r12 and r134 systems
you cant mix and match them |
ac cond
if the fittings are the same size they will work fine, just change the seals at the fitings, use a universal seal replacement kit. thier like $5 at most parts stores. if they wont fit you could also have the corect fittings installed for the condenser you want to use. if your using a factory condenser of some sorts i would have the lines modified to fit so the condenser can be replaced more easily. If you use a larger condenser your ac will work better but you will probably have to add a litte more freon. The aluminum ac hard lines can be tig welded by most competent welders with the equipment.

try finding a good r-134a compressor, condensor, the high line, and low line from a 94-95. thats all u need i believe, everything elese will bolt up. then once its all connected, you clean the lines out of remaining r-12. check pressure. fill with r-134a. i did this with my 92 hatch
