Limp Mode with S300
So my S300 goes into limp mode for some reason or another, and what seems like at random. Sometimes it'll run just fine for a while, other times it'll get a solid cel just after a few minutes of driving. This has made it very difficult to troubleshoot, but today I had my laptop with me and once it went into limp mode all communication with my s300 was lost, so there was no error code on the computer, the smanager did not freeze up but communication was simply lost. I tried repeating this a few times and every time all sensor data goes negative and unresponsive.
Has anyone any info that would help me out? I'm scheduled for a tune in a few weeks and need to figure this ish out. Thanks. |
factory coils? what spark plugs?
Factory coil, maybe 15000 on the plugs
sorry, NGK
I believe its a hardware issue
ground cable on the thermostat housing still there?
Yeah the ECU doesn't lose power, nor does the vehicle. I have a steady 14.3v all the time. I removed my s300 and checked all connections, then reinstalled it. Hopefully it doesn't continue to plague me.

sounds like you've pretty much narrowed it down to the ECU, or S300. What version of firmware are you using?
and also is J12 cut? |
Sounds like a similar issue a customer was having with his ecu.. It eventually stopped starting the car and he purchased another from us. It started right up and never had the issue again.. Id save your tune and try to install it into another ecu.

If it continues to do it I'll try another ECU, I got my p72 from you guys, specifically Brent.
Its Bryant, But if you do have any issues We will take care of you, just let Us know

Just a heads up, if it is the S300 unit, Hondata usually ends up charging around $350 to replace the board if it is damaged.. I've seen it a couple times out of the many hundred units I've sold..
thanks, if I need a new ecu I'll prolly go right back to him, you guys are good people.
thanks Joe, I really hope its not the board! |
To follow up, it turned out to be the ecu. I got a new one from BBN and all is well again. Thanks guys.
Glad to hear all is well! Would have sucked to been the s300.. How did your tune go?
Good to hear bro! And bbn rocks
Thanks! :)
BBN are great guys and do very good work !!
Not so good unfortunately...
I had an oil leak that stopped Tony from going any higher than 9.something psi, I need to fix it and go back. That and my boost controller isn't working for some reason. But the part he did get done made a mere 212hp and 219ftlb. Ehh what can you do... Lol |
Thank you SiR!
Sorry, to hear Rzarectah. Little leak isn't the end of the world tho.. Could have been worse.. There's always next time ;) |
Yup that's very true, I reallllllly need some head work done, the engine falls on its face after 5500 rpm.
