Spun Bearing New Route
Spun a bearing in my Ls b18a1. usually i buy a new crank or new block. but was wondering if a micro polish is a possibility or like a cut/resurface and then over sized bearings. and of course the price range to do this.
I don't know the damage of the bearing yet. just happened last night but trying to get an idea |
just buy a b20 long block 550 password jdm
i know were to get a block i wanted to know how much it would be to go the other way

^^ no shit can i get a number off you. i will pull the crank this week and see the damage
No he wont if its damaged...
There is no other way on a honda crank...
Once you've spun a bearing the crank is dun. no if's and's or but's Bearing spinning creates so much heat on that section of crank that it burns the nickel and other alloys out of the journal.. crank becomes weak Now people have cut the journal out, but not used for hp anything.... daily only and cross your fingers. Also depending on how bad it is... I've spun a bearing and killed it immediately and the crank was pretty fucked up..it doesnt take much. GL |
ya i spun it as i pulled to my house and i stopped it. well i have a knock im assuming spun bearing. thats literally the only thing that creates rod knock.
my type R spun a bearing it still runs today and my friend just replaced the bearings so your saying no chance i have not seen the damage but i have seen the journals look decent after a spun bearing |
So if you've done it, then why you askin? ive done it too, but most people are gonna rev box the shit out them so its just not a good idea.. i dont care what you do with your motors, just a suggestion.
Now im more cautious when buying a motor |
i wasnt doubting you on what you know.. im just short on money and the car was my daily. so just trying to figure out an option to fix it. i guess i need to pull it out and see how bad it is.
Didnt say you did...
If the crank is damaged throw it away. You could save it by having it "turned", but that removes the factory Nitrating. If you must save it, get it re-nitrated and use the oversize bearings. This process is usually more expensive than just finding a good used crank though...

Thats basically what i was saying...
