repainting window belt trim? (with pics)
|
i need to do mine. the only problem is i always break shit when trying to pull stuff like this off the car. Whats the best way to remove them?
i had a buddy that painted his while they were still on the car, got overspray all over the window lol. |
well do you have a 4dr 5dr 2dr? on my 4dr i have to remove the mirrors on the front to pull em off, and the back ones i can just take off.
the first one i took off i broke half the clips cause i didnt have enough patients, you gotta pull them outwards towards you and they should be fine, the second one i did with no problem, no broken clips or anything, just take it slowly and rotate them towards u till they pop off. and when you strip them, use heavyduty like aircraft stuff cause it will get off all the paint, but leave the rubber along the edges. if u dont use good enough stripper ull just end up sanding or scraping away the paint along with rubber which is no good. other than that, it looks pretty good and i only have about 1 more to go |
You remove them by pushing a SMALL screwdriver between the door and bottom of the trim and pushing against the little tab on the clip. If I had some pics of one of the clips you would understand what I'm saying. As for stripping them, a razorblade takes it off in no time at all.
