AZBOOST92 11-12-2009 07:21 AM

jake!!!! race me!!!!

ok i am going to get one ten.... then beat jake in his car with all my weight... sound good??

auex 11-12-2009 08:25 AM

I prefer 12's. But the box is more important then the sub. A good quality box with 1 12's or 2 10's would sound great.

Pendulum 11-18-2009 11:11 PM

Jake, wtf are you talking about subs suck? Clearly you don't care about sound quality... Ever seen music live? Notice that thing called bass? You need a speaker capable of reproducing low frequencies to create that effect from a recording. aka a subwoofer.

Now, if what you meant was that an improperly tuned system which produces too much bass and lots of vibrations sucks, then at least you're closer to the truth... Personally, I love being able to make girls vomit in my backseat from bass.
However, if performance is more important than that, I understand not wanting the weight. Opionions...

Now, OP, that's a pretty difficult question to answer without more info.
What music do you listen to? How concerned are you about the weight? How much money you tryna spend, and are you any good at carpentry? You can save a ton of cash and get superior sound by building your own custom box. I'm barely capable of controlling an electric toothbrush and I've built tons of boxes. Pretty simple shit.

1 efficient sub will crush 2 inefficient subs all day long, regardless of size. 12's have more surface area and will technically push more air than 10's, which have less less surface area, but in general, efficiency (SPL at 1 watt/1 meter) determines what is "better" or "louder." Efficiency, look it up.

brandon 11-19-2009 05:57 AM

1 good 12 will pound harder then 2 10s. go big an get a 15

89true1 11-19-2009 08:33 AM

on1e ten inch sub... thats it.. too much bass sounds shitty.

usdmEF_9 11-19-2009 02:16 PM

ihave had 10" and 12" subs i would go with 2 12" subs, with the right amp/sub you cant go wrong.....
what subs were you looking at?? just the type R's???

Pendulum 11-19-2009 04:01 PM

QFT.

Also, the box is a HUGE factor. For a little Honda, I'd go with 1 10 in a ported box.

BlownspeakerBoX 11-19-2009 05:08 PM

^yup, Ported box NO MATTER WHAT

1 Alpine type R or Kicker L5-L7 and At least 500 Watts Rms  BEASTIN

usdmEF_9 11-20-2009 08:27 AM

i have 2 12" MTX subs in a custom made ported box, with a 3000watt. planet audio amp  and all of my mid's and tweet's are hooked up to a phx. gold 600watt amp shit sounds sick....

Big C 11-20-2009 10:51 PM

I'd recommend a single JL10W7 in a sealed enclosure with a JL 500/1. Thats what I've been running for years and people usually think I have a pair of 12s when they listen to it.

Wish I had the space for a large ported enclosure though to be honest.

usdmEF_9 11-21-2009 06:08 AM

my cuzin can make you a sick ass box for your 350z hes made 4 already and they came out really nice, the only bad thing is that you have no room after that

jakellama123 11-21-2009 09:23 AM

AZBOOST92 11-21-2009 02:11 PM

i have one 10 inch alpine type r now that i got with a rockford fosgate 3001p amp..... kicks sooooo hard. afraid my carbon fiber trunk will break haha. it makes it pop so i have to dynomat my trunk

BlownspeakerBoX 11-21-2009 04:43 PM

LmAO...when you can count the number of times of youve done something you might be premature..does he know the # times hes gotten laid, if so refer back to first comment

bumpstick 11-25-2009 08:38 PM

It's funny to me that you got a carbon fiber to trunk lid to save weight, then slapped a bunch of Dynamat in there, thus negating any weight savings. Lol

Rufus 11-25-2009 08:44 PM

Ported FTW

auex 11-25-2009 09:04 PM

Sealed FTW

bumpstick 11-25-2009 09:14 PM

ported vs sealed = apples vs oranges

auex 11-25-2009 11:07 PM

More like rock vs rap.

bumpstick 11-25-2009 11:11 PM

or spl vs. sq

Rufus 11-25-2009 11:32 PM

Your Mom is sealed

bumpstick 11-26-2009 01:02 AM

Fixed, about an hour ago...

jakellama123 11-26-2009 10:35 AM

never saw these two posts lol
and you fuck!
if u beat me somehow id just instantly spend 700-800 on revo stg2, downpipe, and diverter valve and have 260whp and 280wtq

yeah i just dont like subs anymore...
ive had 2 boston acoustic 8s in a ported box with dynamat and it sounded good but i just got tired of it
and i have been in cars with shitty ass systems that make the car seem like its gonna fall apart
also i dont really listen to any music that id like to have more bass than what my stock stereo puts out
also id just rather spend the money on performance, suspension, or exterior mods :bananalama:
