picked up my Quaife LSD today.

And over the weekend I got my BBK put on finally...had them for over a year now. They work great! Huge improvement over my crappy drilled slotted brakes.

And we finally got that 300zx on to the trailer and out of the garage. The civic will be going under the knife tomorrow...hopefully.

She went into the garage Tuesday night and I got the motor just about ready to be pulled. All I need to do, is drop the subframe and pull off the axles. She was a hell of a lot dirtier than I thought. I will probably pull the motor out friday afternoon once I get back from my trip to Harbor Freight to find some new toys.

I test fitted my Skunk2 IM since there wasnt anything in the way. That manifold barely fits without having to cut. The pictures look like its touching the radiator support but it isn't by like a fraction of a millimeter.

K24 is out and mostly disassembled.
I was really curious as to how it all looked on the inside since it was my first motor i built all by myself. For the most part it all looked good. The cylinder head was all in great condition, the cylinder walls were good. The only thing that really stood out was my number 4 piston. It had a lot of black build up on it.

I discovered that my throwout bearing was shot...i suspected this from some tranny noise but cant believe it went out so fast. It was my third one on this trans. Anyone know if something can cause them to go bad faster?

Oh and I also discovered that my passenger side motor mount insert was quite malformed. Gonna have to call hasport and see if their warranty will cover it.

Next on my list of things to do is clean up the engine bay. Remove all the stuff I wont be using, fix all of my half ass wiring, clean, and repaint. I am very tempted to take everything out and really do the job of cleaning it up the right way.

More Parts!

Received my DSS 2.9 Axles, Progress Front Sway Bar, Autometer Cobalt Oil Temp Gauge, and EP3 Ebrake Cables for my rear disc conversion.
It is going to be nice having a front sway again. I had to remove my stock one when I did my swap cause the exhaust manifold knocked on it really badly while driving.

Do it right!

The hardest thing of building a car when you have the parts is not getting in a hurry to get it done, and enjoy it.

But, if you succumb to that, you will always wish you spent the extra effort and time doing it "right."

sniperscout 11-29-2011 07:09 PM

yeah those are my thoughts as well

Dead Bird 11-29-2011 09:06 PM

If they would have worked, I probably would have given you my rsx's e-brake cables...

Do you need, or could you use anything from an 02 base model?

sniperscout 11-29-2011 11:17 PM

i actually think the rsx cables do work for the conversion but i appreciate the notion man. At the moment I dont think I need anything from an rsx. When did you pick up an RSX?

Dead Bird 11-30-2011 08:45 AM

about a month before i rolled it.

(bought it beginning of october.
rolled it 28 days later)

sniperscout 11-30-2011 04:25 PM

I was curious as to why you chose that bov, most people that pick those up need them for recirculating purposes. Can't go wrong with tial or turbosmart, they are big and vent like crazy.... Not really any cool noise those.

i dont care about noise....would prefer no noise to be honest. I wanted to try it out though. If it doesnt work for me, ill upgrade.
I am new to turbos so I am trying to learn still.

sniperscout 03-10-2012 04:17 PM

uh it was cold and i stopped working on it. I just got my electronic power steering setup last week. its warming up so i will be starting the build back up. I need to have it done for import alliance.

sniperscout 03-19-2012 02:43 PM

So I am prepping my bay for paint and i think i am going to do something a little different. I am thinking about using truck bed liner and then going over it with clear. I experimented with a spare bumper support.
any opinions or concerns are welcome.
