Shooting for one of the fastest FIS in AZ
So I am pretty close to finishing my newest upgrades and am shooting to be a top contender in the IFO FIS class here in AZ. Basically to run in the FIS class you have to run an exhaust, full interior, all regular windows, no cutting metal, you can have a 3 piece front end, 62mm turbo or smaller, 24.5 inch slicks and registration/ insurance.
So last time I was on the dyno the car put down 710whp and since then I have made a few changes. I Just recently finished up a 10 point chromoly tig welded cage, added Skunk2 LMA’s, Pro 1 cams and gears. I also had the trans pulled and purchased the Speed Factory SCHA, Joe sent my gear set off to Liberty Gears to get face plated, no more synchros!! Anyways I am really trying to put together something that will push low 10’s and with a lot of seat time maybe a high 9. My tranny will be back together in the next couple of weeks so I will post more pictures of that and after it gets retuned. Start off with some pictures of the cage, I just finished painting it and got all the interior back in. Some outside shots I got from today, I just buffed the car out and got it cleaned up.. |
looking good buddy
Thanks man! I had the cage built around the interior so every piece of the interior is in.
In for this build...
are you going to switch to a fiberglass front end?
I thought about it but I really like the stock look of the front end. I really won't save any weight and I am running a 24.5 inch tire so it doesn't really stick out the fenders like the guys on 26's.
super clean! Do the FIS rules still require working interior?
Not sure, when I looked at the rules it just said full interior no cutting metal out, the cool thing is my interior is fully functional. My front seats move forward, backward, recline and the back seats still can fold down and up because the cage doesn't go through them but up and over.
All my signals, hazards, gauge cluster, windows all the way down to my stereo is good to go. |
This is good stuffs in here.
Thanks man!
Nice work
In for this.. |
You should make it a goal everytime you win at the track to throw hazards on!
car looks very clean
have you ever ran the car at the track?
what times did you get? |
Thanks man I will get some bay shots as soon as the tranny is back in, the bay is fully shaved, tucked and painted.
My first turbo set up in the car it ran 11.6 when I was about 450WHP.. Then I went with another setup and got 11.1 with 550whp I busted blew an oil pump after that.. Then I got another sleeved block a couple years ago and the motor dropped a valve. Then I said screw it and decided to get everything done at TSR and Locash. Basically everything has been done with this setup and I haven't run it yet. Last dyno session it made 710 and I am thinking maybe 750whp now but I have so much more then I have had on any set up before. |
all in the same car?
let me know when you run again. would like to watch  |
Yeah I've had this car a long time, this is the third sleeved block I've had in this car along with about 5 different turbo setups. I will post some pics of the motor, fuel system, trans etc and I will let you know when I go out.
I got a text from Joe saying my gear set from Liberty will be here in about 2 and half weeks. After that it is back on the dyno and then to the track finally. |
Wolf in sheeps clothing about sums it up.
Yeah I was trying to keep it as stock looking as possible, I like having full interior and a stock body.
I am in love with the way she sits on that tire setup.
Yeah I really like it as well, the Mickey Thompson ET Streets in the front hook really well. They are 225/50/15's so they are about 24.5 inches tall. I thought about the M&H 235/60/15's but they are 26 inches tall and I think just a little to big. I have seen cars with them but it looks weird in my opinion, way too big. Since I don't drive the car daily I just leave the skinnies on the back and the Exospeeds in the rear almost match the rims I had on the car.
The color is a little off so I was thinking of powder coating the fronts to match the rears, then I thought about powdercoating all the rims flat black, not to sure yet. |
I really like this, looks like a sleeper, except for cage. I want to see this at wild horse!
The cage was built with a really tight fit, so you really don't see it that much from the outside. I can't wait to get it out to the track to run.
This.
Will do
Can't wait to see more!
How's the motor setup ?
The motor setup is sweet...
Lol hush hush ? Cool. Car looks clean and mean ..
Oh, you want to know the setup.
GSR Golden Eagle Sleeved and Oringed Block CP 9:1 Pistons with Manley Turbo Tuff Rods Stock Crank, ALC bearings. GSR head CNC machined by Performance CNC Full Ferrea Valvetrain Skunk2 LMA's, Pro 1 cams and Gears GSR Tranny Liberty Face Plated 1-4 Dog Gears Liberty Cuff Speed Factory SCHA CC Twin Disk T1 G Force Shifter Kit with full solid mounts FCS fuel tank, dual bosch 044 inline fuel pumps all new fuel and return lines Full Custom turbo kit but only running a t3 t61 Garrett Turbo Hondata S300, Hondata CPR, Hondata Traction Control and that about sums it up. |
Just thought I would add some pics of the fuel system setup and also just added my RJS harness..
Just a pic of the new harness... |
Wow this thing is beautiful. Great work man good luck. Would love to see this run as well.
Thanks man, the car runs and drives amazing. I added a set of Skunk Pro 1 cams, gears and LMA's and the car was on the dyno but my CC twin disk spline litterally ate itself. So when the tranny got pulled to send the clutch to CC to see about getting a warrenty, I decided it was time to get the gear set sent to Liberty and get the Liberty Gears Face plating work. I also got the Liberty Cuff and the Speedfactory SCHA. The gearset should be here maybe by the end of next week or so and then everything should be back together ready for the dyno.
I am shooting for 750 with this turbo, I am going to use this turbo for a while and then maybe next year jump to a 6266 and that should be enough to put me over 800. |
wow.. was not expecting to see this..
That fuel system is sick!! Good work!
nice to see this beast off the lift! :guns:
LOL, it will be back on the lift soon, my gear set should be back from liberty soon, the the trans will go back in then back to Joe.. From there the damn track haha..
guess i'll see her there next! i bought new amr coils, just waiting on lca's and bushings to arrive and then mine will be back at the car spa for a couple days. those welds on that fuel cell look like things of beauty. did they fab that or was it a unit that you purchased?
No the tank was the FCS unit that I bought that was off of Joes car.
How's the swap?
