sounds from transmission
bought a 5spd 98 civic 4dr to fix awhile back. but when i got it running it was making a grinding noise from the trans.
when i push the clutch in the noise stops though? when i test drove it, it sounds like im dragging a cardboard box underneath the car i havent taken it back apart yet. if anyone is familiar with this. would it be the gear box, bearings, or clutch? just getting opinions for what to expect when i open it up. or what to look for it just the stock d16 engine and transmission |

No, you need to pull the transmission apart to get to the input shaft bearing.
