boosted y7 idle issue
trying to help out my friend has boosted y7 with a y8 intake manifold , it idles up n down between 1,500 rpm & 2k when it warmed up , already clean out the ivac tried 2 other ivac's still the same i dnt see any vacum leaks any where , also think the main relay might be bad but not 100% sure , only thing i can guess is the not all the air hasent been purged out the radiator n might be low on coolant , spark wires n cap n roter are msd almost new so not sure what it might be, n yes my grammar sucks thanks in advance lol

What car is it in?
Also why not fix other known issues before posting up for help?

4 door ek Lx
cause i doubt its the main relay , n Ive never had low coolant give me a idle issue ever but have read it could cause it but never had it happen, n im not with the car ATM just seeing if anyone might know any other reasons y its doin it

So I'm guessing you guys just slapped the y8 manifold on and didn't do the 3 wire to 2 wire iacv wiring... And/or running the stock ecu
It was auto before , but he told me he had change that over , as far as ecu I know he's not running the auto one , trying to get this fix so he can find a place to tune it on a dyno , but I'll dubble check, he was ruining just a stock y7 before and it messed up so he replaced it with on another y7 and threw on the y8 manifold so you might be correct
He needs to convert to obd1 via a jumper and obd1 ecu, then do the 3 wire to 2 wire iacv Repin from ffsquad
And it's a 99 civic , trying to find a diagram for the ivac
Don't need a diagram. Ffsquad as great instructions on their page.
Found this but it doesn't say anything about 99-00 , I would believe it's the same without having to use a a p28 or jumper harness , just different pin outs on 99-00 I believe |
thx i will check that out, just trying to avoid using a p28 untill after emission unless im wrong and the p28 can be tuned and also set for passing emissions on a obd2 scan
found it thank you , hopefully it works
youre sol on that
without the 3 wire iacv you wont pass emissions on the stock ecu if you threw a y8 ecu in youll fail due to no knock obd1 ecu wont communicate with the test |
Yea he told me he's using a y8 ecu supposedly , only thing is confusing me is how before he had the y7 manifold on with no check engine light and supposedly the y8 ecu , he's using the auto engine harness and the y8 and y7 ivac sensor looks the same , idk some what confusing lol
if it is an auto y8 manifold they are the same. so would be able to get by with the y7 ecu for emissions, then youll be sol for running a iacv when switching to obd1 to have it tuned
The y7 ecu is auto tho he's not using it , oh well I guess we'll see, how much are you charging for dyno tuning?
