Fuel Pressure Problem??

havent posted on here in a while, but i need some help diagnosing a problem.

when my tank gets to about 50% the car starts to sputter and stall, but once i put gas in it, its working again. im hoping its as simple as the cap, but i think it might be either the Fuel Pressure Regular or the Fuel Pump.

what do you guys think?

FranktheTank 12-13-2008 10:00 PM

Fuel pump fer sure.
Its probably starting to go bad.

Buy a walboro 255 and you'll be set.

CZappettini 12-13-2008 11:05 PM

how much is that, not gonna break the bank is t?

FranktheTank 12-13-2008 11:37 PM

Shouldn't.
Here's a link.

Or you can replace it with an OEM one.

CZappettini 12-14-2008 12:41 AM

thank you sir, but there was no link

lol fail link!

fuel pump isn't expensive... if you can wait i'd order one on ebay preferably a walbro but you have to modify some stuff... if you want to buy one local get one from napa as they come with the strainer, something autozone and checker sell you extra.

it cost me 130 from napa but the box had the wrong strainer so i had to spend 25 on a new strainer. only annoying part on an ef or da is that you have to drop the tank to get the pump out.

Walboro 255's are like 75 bucks, not bad at all. I have 3 of them lol, great pumps.

FranktheTank 12-14-2008 02:24 PM

Oh sorry guy!
I think I was a tad bit tired when typed that.

But here's the link:

that's not your fpr though...

that's a dashpot ...

your fpr is the bottom right of the picture and it should have a vacuum line going somewhere on the intake manifold... if you want to know if it's the fpr failing crimp the return line, the big line on the bottom of the fpr when trying to start... if it starts right up the fpr is bad and you need to replace it.

the shit you circled with a question mark is your purge... that's not gonna have a starting issue as mine is capped off and not even hooked up.

CZappettini 12-14-2008 11:32 PM

yeah, i am extremely new to working on cars so idk whats what yet, basically a noob. im trying to get into it more to save some money and gain some knowledge. thanks for all the help, ima check the FPR in the morning and see whats up

CZappettini 12-16-2008 10:54 AM

if it is my FPR which brand do you recommend?

die in a dick fire noob 12-16-2008 11:55 AM

stock, other than that a b&m or aem.

usdmEF_9 12-16-2008 11:56 AM

theres different ones to choose from B&M, AEM, BDL ect. ect. ect.

i've used bothe AEM and B&M there both really good

CZappettini 12-16-2008 12:46 PM

is it worth it to go aem or b&m or should i just replace it with a stock one, or does it depend on application

CZappettini 12-16-2008 12:52 PM

i would by both of these correct
