ep3 axle help
 

so yesterday my gf heard a knocking from the drivers side wheel area, so i drove it, and found out its the axle.. i was wondering if anybody had a good write up on one or can point me in the right direction. id greatly appreciate it.

Jack the car up
Take the Wheel off Unbolt the lower ball joint and seporate it . If your having a hard time use a tool called a pickle fork. If you have to use this tool get a new
ower ball joint boot.
Take that big axle nut off. It requieres an impact gun.
Now you should be able to push the axle out of the spindle
Get something to pry and get under the car and pry the axle out of the tranny/intermedit shaft depending on what side and if its a auto or manual.. It will pop out.
Now you should be able to pull the axle out and put your new one in.
Do everything in revers with your new axle. It will push in the tranny or half shaft. Sometimes I LIKE to hammer it But thats me. You should not need to.
This job takes me under 1hr.

I would NOT use a pickle fork.
Axle nuts do not require Impact Guns either...

Do not hammer a new axle in. You risk messing up the axle nut threads.
