ploblem solving

throwing code 14
changed the damn iacv with 3 different ones off running cars with no codes
and still no change after reseting ecu (unpluging ecu and unhooking battery)
i checked the pins on the clip
and the perfect
also tried 3 diffent ecu's
anybody got ANY ideas
i would really appreciate it

trace the wires back to the ecu. clearly it's something with YOUR car as the 3 different ecu's didn't change it. you ruled out the ecu's, you ruled out the iacv itself, now you need to rule out the wiring itself. what color wires do you have going to the iacv?

babyrex22 07-28-2010 01:02 PM

i believe red & yellow w/black stripe

ohm meter is your friend

radster69 07-28-2010 04:11 PM

Yea ill 2nd that good call

babyrex22 07-28-2010 06:35 PM

ok ive never used one b4 but i do have 1 and ill try it
wat kind of readings should i be looking for

you should be looking for no resistance across the wires because that would mean there is a break somewhere.

what he forgot to mention, is that the car was just fine with no codes at all.. he changed his hacked engine harness for an un-cut one (for the most part).. iacv wires were never touched.. only wires touch were coolant temp(side of head)..
so i wouldn't think it would be the cabin harness.. unless you pulled on the wires when you un-clipped it from under your dash (wire tuck)

checking back to the ecu is still a good check. how bout the common missed ground at the thermo housing?

eg2/gsr 07-29-2010 04:23 PM

^^^ yea check the wiring.

gunsup0331 07-29-2010 04:51 PM

do you have a wiring diagram?
and the wires should have LESS than .5ohms resistance on any complete, isolated section
