if MPG is your biggest concern, don't do it.

That simple.

MIRANDA88 10-08-2013 02:52 PM

Who cares

Take a look at this thread I did about 3.5 years ago... This will help if you plan on using pump 91 or E85 I did an MPG test..

usdmcivic 10-09-2013 09:09 AM

it's not a big concern buddy.

i was just wondering if what everyone is getting.

it's been done for while and there's no going back for me.

oh look someone has no constructive input. thanks alot

thanks ! interesting thread :you rock:

AZ_CIVIC 10-09-2013 11:19 AM

No problem, at the time the car was putting down about 500whp, car still had ac/ps.

I lost about 4 to 5 MPG when switching to E85 but running E85 allowed me to up the boost safely. Also back then E85 was about a dollar cheaper then 91, so it balanced itself out.

Either way good luck...

usdmcivic 10-09-2013 12:38 PM

thanks !

im using 91 even when i wasn't boosted and mpg kinda sucks i used to get 30mpg spirited driving and now i get about 16-20 if i grandma drive its about 23... running 450cc injectors and im about 220whp

what exactly does one need to run e85 besides fuel pump and bigger injectors ?

AZ_CIVIC 10-09-2013 01:12 PM

Thats pretty much it for what your doing, you need to have an adjustable FPR because you will need to run higher base pressure and a good tune.

If you get serious I run ID2000's which is Ethonal compatible, I run a 5 gallon FCS fuel cell, dual Bosch 044 fuel pumps, filters, and all Ethonal compatible fuel lines, no more stock lines. I also run Ignite 114 but am also tuned for E98, both fuels made the same power. Once I finish using Joe's drums of 114 I will switch over to E98.

If you have part throttle and everything is on point you should get decent milage.

of couse in boost its a different story.

Id bet you would increase mpg with id injectors.

I was getting 30 mpg at 330 whp on 91 octane, w/ light to spirited driving. In my 2000 Civic Coupe Ex. It was a 81.5mm 10:1 LS/V on ID1000s, on a Garrett 60-1 .63/.70 ar tuned on gate pressure for daily driving at 9 psi by Joe at Locash and 27-28 mpg beating on it. Then 32 mpg on 431whp at 18 psi on vp q116.. With light driving and a few hard pulls over a 119 mile round trip commute. All in the tune IMO Joe is worth all your shiny nickels and quarters!

Hellsinki 10-10-2013 03:21 AM

Avg 30-33. 750cc injectors 9:1 compression. T67 on 91 octane 1 bar boost

Getting 28mpg driving like an asshole (or else why get a turbo) 209whp/212tq, 750cc, 8lb gate spring. I'm sure once I'm ready to up the boost the mpg will drop.

taintschwacker 10-10-2013 09:02 AM

Nice man!!! I was just talking about my buddy's driving yesterday while at lunch and he was getting gas. He has to fill up every week bscause he drives like an asshole. I told him pumps should have another octane level for people like him. 87,89,91, and asshole octane just so he can get better mpg's Lol

cbaracing 10-10-2013 12:06 PM

i like the asshole octane rating :lmao:

in ohio you can get 93 at the pump and pennsylvania you can get 94 at the pump

out west gets the shit gas. NM gets 86 88 90. hows that for shitty

taintschwacker 10-10-2013 12:13 PM

Colorado gets down to 85 octane. Thats shitty. 85,87,90-91.

HeikDiesel 10-14-2013 11:26 AM

Less dense air, higher octane really isn't needed. But yes it sucks for people with performance oriented cars
