dohc zc. boost.?
has any body done it? what kind of turbo should i use?
tons of people have done this HUSH22 had one he said it didnt fell as fast as his z6 turbo. search google on your internet machine.
talk to Josh at Tri-tech Motorsports. him and his wife have a CRX with a Boosted ZC in it. im sur ehe could answer all of your questions. GL on the build.
dohc zc's are known for there ability to last under boost. zc + boost ftw. or a6 + boost. its girdled
dont do it man. if u blow it good luck finding head studs man. just stay sohc or go ls turbo
^^^ Biter!! LOL
Head studs and a Head gasket would be hard to find. Cometic would be able to make one for the application but heads would limit your boost. Now swapping out the pistons with some after markets and or z6/vitaras would be cool. |
ARP mankes head studs for the JDM DOHC ZC now. and for a head gasket you can use one from an 89 teg D16A1 but you have to trim a lil space for one of the oil galleys. thats what is being used in my brothers car and it works fine.
how am i a biter? i told u i was going to use it in my sign.
i didnt know that arp had head studs NOW when i had my dohc zc (circa 05) they didnt have any and i fucked that motor up because i lept using the same heaed studs and the head would just lift. but still its not worth doing. |
ok. forget the zc.. i have a d16a1 in now. any suggestions on what i should do?
GSR swap
i was looking to turbo a dohc zc and everythign i read led me to not do it
boost it. do the same thing u were going to do to the zc. or sell it and get a b swap

pretty sure he was joking millions of people would tell you to go zc boost. go to homemadeturbo.com. zc motor have a very good reputation with boost. they have lots of good info on that site even though there are alot of ghetto kits. shit they all move pretty good though |
lol true boost it!!!! how many miles does it have? i would assume a million and a half |
build your D for boost you can do it for half the price of any B..but cant go wrong with a boosted lsv

Yea I was just joking! Sorry to come off wrong! BOOST THE D!!!! |
its got 80000 on t he motor.
take the ZC, put a block gausr in it and some ARP's, get a decent set of cams, and boost the holy hell out of it. you wont be dissapointed. and ake that A1 and chuck it. its too much of a pain to put into the EF.
he said he has a d16a1 IN NOW... so what car is this... everyone is putting their two cents in because we assumed that it was an ef/da... but if it's a first gen integra with a d16a1 or a pre ef civic 84-87 with a d16a1 then you're a lot more limited than what has been suggested.
if either of these are the case then you need to custom fab some stuff to swap pretty much any other motor than what you have currently. |
oh damn sorry everybody. its in a 1st gen teg. but i am also looking for projects. ef, rex, 88 accord, 88 teg
yeah i was thinking it was a ef. but just as well.......boost it lol. thats some low miles. and reamember tune tune tune. its what it all comes down to. i had a single cam a6 boosted on 15psi and the stock clutch would just slip in 5th gear when i floored it at 40 so you know it made power. it was a blast untill it blew up because or the whole 15psi stock block on a hack tune lol. whatever though. those 3 days got me addicted to boost
[quote=hush22@cox.net;1244035]its all good in the hood fool
o well then yea just boost it man. |
if you are looking for projects stay away from the accord and the teg unless you want no aftermarket and tons of headache.
ef's are your friend since they are super simple and you can swap pretty much any motor into them. eg would be the best choice since you can get them hella cheap now. as far as your teg... there is a thread on d-series.org about a guy who did a single cam d swap into the teg... it's pretty sick because then you would have a lot of support with the motor. either way there are some good things on d-series.org you should check it out if you haven't already. |
