B18a1 code 4 question
I have a 91 dx hatch with a b18a1 swap not done by me. Ive owned the car for about a year the wiring is really crappy some connections dirty but i working on it. So what happened is i reset my ecu to get o2 sensor off. Once i reset it and turn it back on code 4 popped up. Tried reseting it again because it isnt the first time i get code 4 but it is the first time that code 4 goes away after reseting my ecu again.
I put a new distributer on from autozone and still code 4 plus code 8 i believe it was TDC . Reset ecu tdc code gone So im lead to believe maybe bad wiring? How exactly do i do a continuity check Is continuity good or bad to have on the 7 pin plug that goes on my dizzy |
99% of the time it is wiring issues with 88-91 civic/crx and that goes especially for swapped vehicles

Thanks cbaracing
Ok what test could i do to find out if wiring is messed up Please detail explanation on testing ive searched google for 3 days maybe im typing wrong questions but i have never battled with wires |
well the problem you are having is 2 fold. one is nobody ever ever gets 88-91 civic/crx wiring correct when converting a harness for a swap. two is aftermarket distributors suck and are sometimes wired incorrectly
the way to accomplish what you need done is to sit down with 2 factory service manuals and trace the wiring. one for the car you have and one for the donor engine thats in there |
