wiring deck

i noticed that my last two decks havent had illumination/dimmer wires from the deck... is there any other way i can just the dimmer light into something else?

my harness has the 8 speaker wires. then it has a black, red, yellow, and remote

black = ground
red = power
yellow = constant

right? im lost

adapter from my car has 1 more wire than off my deck...

trujdm 07-08-2011 07:24 PM

You are correct about your red/yellow/black wires.

Is the extra wire on the adapter harness either an orange or orange with white stripe? If so, that's for illumination. Problem is, if you don't have an illumination wire on your deck harness, it doesn't have the dimming function. Not really a way around that.

sucks! thank you

civic nerd 07-10-2011 08:44 AM

Just yank the orange wire out of the harness or leave it. There is no point to it on your car. Just bought a Boss Audio 7" touchscreen deck like 3 weeks ago and noticed this as well.

Chinky 07-12-2011 10:29 AM

oh i just left it... was wondering if there was anyway i could dim but jumping something in.

i get slight speaker pop, too much power? only pops when i really turn it up

civic nerd 07-13-2011 10:04 AM

Possibly. But popping is usually interference of some kind. Either you have a bad connection to the speakers or this can be caused by using cheap speaker wires. But it could also be the deck too.

Chinky 07-13-2011 02:34 PM

only one pops and they are wired the same, they are mis matching speakers tho, and one is only a single coil so i figured it cant take as much as the other

rudsone 07-13-2011 02:53 PM

i wish my damn yellow constant wire worked! for some reason it doesnt have enough power so everytime i turn the car off the deck resets...

civic nerd 07-13-2011 04:37 PM

I would have to assume that the one mismatched popping speaker cant handle the power then. Is it a lower wattage than the rest of the speakers?

Chinky 07-13-2011 04:54 PM

just jump it into something else?

idk to be honest... the other one is bigger and heavier but idk how much that means...

rudsone 07-13-2011 04:57 PM

jump it into what? something in the fuse box?

Chinky 07-13-2011 05:20 PM

the deck side or car side doesnt work?

rudsone 07-14-2011 01:52 PM

the red power wire works fine, but the yellow doesnt have enough power. so what i did was connect both the yellow and red from the deck harness to the red on the car harness and it turns on fine but it resets itself (goes back to song #1 on cd, etc) every time i turn it off, i might just need a whole new dash harness of something

Chinky 07-14-2011 04:53 PM

have you tried jumping both into the red one?

rudsone 07-14-2011 04:55 PM

yeah thats what i just said chink! the problem is the yellow not getting enough power to give the deck constant

bumpstick 07-15-2011 01:37 AM

did you check your battery backup fuse? 7.5 amp fuse in the engine bay fuse box.

trujdm 07-15-2011 07:46 AM

:goodpost:

rudsone 07-15-2011 08:13 PM

no sir i have not! i will do that as soon i can, thanks! :bigsmile:

Chinky 07-19-2011 11:43 AM

oh lol my bad all i read was yellow wire not working my fault

crx88 07-19-2011 02:41 PM

i have the same problem on my rex lol.

91Crx-SiR 07-19-2011 02:48 PM

jesus christ, same problem in my rex aha^^

projectaccord 08-24-2011 02:28 PM

I had this issue in my wifes old crx too. If i remember correctly theres a constant power wire that powers your cig lighter(?) that i jumped it too and it worked fine. Her car was an electrical nightmare when we got it though to the point i had to directly wire the cel on the cluster directly to the ecu signal pin.

rudsone 08-24-2011 02:33 PM

check this fuse d00dz, thats what was wrong with mine :wave1:

wheelguy 03-07-2012 02:59 AM

One little fuse can cause funny problems like that. I've also seen a single element bulb (sapposed to be duel) in a brake light and cause dash lights to work all the time and srs light with no codes, think it was a 96-97 accord.
