ok i got a b18... ticking noise coming from engine... rpms bounce around... is that the head? and is it a esay fix?

ticking, quite or loud could be u need a valve adjustment or your engine is knocking

no not knockin its tickin... its quite but annoying

sounds like you need valves adjusted.My motor has the idle jumping around tto try idle air control valve

Yeah the quite ticking is valve chatter.
Take your valve cover off and gett'em adjusted.

And for the Rpm's jumping up and down, that would Be you IACV.
It's located on the back of your intake manifold; take it off and clean it out with some carb cleaner.

When you pop the hood leave the car running. Get a tube and stick it to your ear. Plug the other, poke around and listen to your motor. IF you haven't had a valve lash in a while its probably time. Iacv,Pcv,leaking head gasket,vacuum leak could cause your idle issues.

"tube" what ever you have laying around, i think i used clear plastic pvc. A stethoscope will work
