dont like smoked tailights!!
anyone know how to clean up smoked tailights, my bro just bought an integra that came like that, how do we start?
Prolly acetone or something similar to that
Wet sand and then spray with clear, they will look brand new.
laquer thinner works
Yeah but he'll still have to use a clear on them, because to even smoke taillights you have to scuff up the plastic on the light so it will stick.
x2. were they smoked with nightshades or with black/clear mix? if its nightshades you can just spray it again with nightshades and wipe it off lol. if not you will have to try acetone or sand it
thx guys
my bad i thought you were trying to remove the smoke and go back to stock look, dont use laquer thinner to try and make them look better unless you want it off
yeah, i do want the stock look, what way would be less damaging?
wet sand n clear. no chemicals. thats the route i would go.. but there your lights, so do what u want. ^_^
laquer thinner worked fine on my buddys just use that and a scotch pad works good takes some elbow grease though
Wet sand with 800 grit wet/dry sand paper....
that takes it off quick and makes a nice adhesion for the clear.. then just shoot the clear on them... make sure to take off the tail lights from the car.. because you dont want overspray on the car... |
What he said.. or just buy new lights..
Could he wet sand them then take some plastic polish to them? Maybe with a polishing tool on a drill, or whatever polisher you have.
sand with 1500, clean with dish soap or baby soap (works better) then clear coat them
Remove it the right way!
No Clear coat. just use 400 grit wet sand paper. wet sand untill you have gotten all the paint off.dont worry about knocking down plastic material. 2nd wet sand with 800 grit and last at least a 1500 to (2000) grit preferably to make it real smooth. after this get some rubbing compound and polish til shinny. best way,no clear needed.wont fade, wont peal. u can polish it by hand with a microfiber cloth from autoparts store or blue shop towel. easiest and quickest is using a buffer.Just like OEM. |
Yup, that's right Mr. Tucson Guy from Cali DosXX goes good anytime. Once again thx for the input everyone
This is the best way. I use Rubbing Compound or even the Meguires PlastX. You will get a shine. I have done several this way. You can even use it on the Night Shade if you really wanted too as well. Will make it shine and still remain shaded.
I would say DosXX is a requirement LOL. |
Aircraft remover!

HAH!:smackself:
hahaha and dont mask lol it doesnt eat paint jk good shit though^^ |
anyone think of just pickin up some new lenses? just seemed easy and cheap.....
You need to quit picking the options that make sense....
trade them with some one who wants smokes.. then theres minimal work :-p
Just wet sand with like 1200 grit then buff it after your done sanding cost you under $15 and have it done in no time
Last I knew you couldn't get just "lenses". You have to get the entire lamp assembly as that's the only way they are offered. If I am wrong, please post a link to said "lenses" to which you refer.
split hairs much?
 |
Click your link you posted and tell me whats wrong. :slaphands:
And how was I "splitting hairs"? Please explain. |
lol im prettty sure he got it after 9 months haha
rub ur elbow on it. ur darkness will absorb it lol u know ur my homie martin
wet sanding would be the best way. using the chemicals might get on the paint and fuck that up. |
