Maybe if you properly wrote out what you are asking you will get the answers you are looking for. Run on sentences and big blocks of texts make people not want to read. All I got from it was you bought a car and want to do something to it, but you are to indecisive to make your own decision and want azht to hold your hand.

thanks for posting in the proper area, periods help though. i would refrain from putting any ebay exhaust on the car, you will end up hating it, so will the cops, and they are not very structurally sound. ebay coilsprings are junk. you will end up preferring a covered wagon before you drive with ebay suspension. if you are on a budget, save for what you really want first. a good suspension drop makes any car look neater, race land makes a set of coil overs for about 400 bucks, not the greatest, not the worst., not much power gains will you get out of that d17. but a cold air kit for single slammers are not very expensive. post some pictures of the car.

With the way the ECU works in our civics, it is not so easy to just plug something into the obd2 and change modes like you are saying. The only way to really do that, that i am aware of, is to go kpro and have multiple tunes. VAFCs don't work that well.
For the most part, you wont notice any change in gas mileage from performance increasing mods...you wont really notice any difference in power either. Our cars are already extremely fuel efficient to begin with. I was getting almost 40mpg on hwy when i had the d17. The d17 does not respond well to mods. You can put them on, but to be honest, they are mostly for aesthetics.

Welcome to the forums As was already stated above the engine is already efficient enough your not going to make it better by any means that you have mentioned. As far as the exhaust I ran a megan racing 4-2-1 header and downpipe that I have a magnaflow cat installed into, and finally into a greddy tic catback. Picked up the o2 extension wires from password jdm and I loved this exhaust setup more than any car i've ever owned. Had a great deep sound, loud as hell and kept daily driving fun. Lowering Springs I did tokico blues and Eibach sportline springs. Minimal drop without too many major issues. I would advise a camber kit if you go this route.

If any one of us bought a Honda for speed we bought the wrong car. Know I own a EM2 myself, but you have to realize the d17 has no after market support. There a few turbo kits but for $4,000 dollars you get under 200 whp,so a K swap is a better option. Don't bother doing exhaust or intake as they will net you like 8hp for $500+ dollars, just save for a Kswap or just enjoy it as is.

sniperscout 11-01-2012 08:42 PM

lol almost bought a civic hybrid for gas mileage instead of the em2...never did i think about doing any of what i have done

MUG 11-02-2012 03:12 PM

I plan to follow in your footsteps lol,I need a TSX engine in the bay badly.

sniperscout 11-02-2012 06:03 PM

you can save 500-1000 by getting a k24a4 or a8 and swapping the pistons and buying a k20a2 head

sniperscout 11-02-2012 06:04 PM

the only other benefit to going the tsx route is oil squirters. but if you do decide to pick up a motor anytime soon i still have my old one...k24a8 with k24a2 pistons and k20a2 head

MUG 11-02-2012 08:16 PM

I will def keep that in mind, prolly won't have my money together till after the holidays tho.

sniperscout 11-03-2012 04:24 AM

i wont be back in the same state as the engine until then anyways.
