its hot. ac problems
I have a 07 pilot that the ac just went out on.
I checked the relay with another similar relay as well as test the relay itself with a 9v battery to test for failure. I heard a distinct clicking while testing the relay. I jumped the relay plug to send power to the compressor. I disconnected the ac compressor at the plug to test for power getting to the compressor. I then checked the plug with a test light to confirm that power was getting to the plug. My thought now are that the clutch and or stater in the clutch is failed due to it not kicking on. The ac was working really well before this problem happened. (it happened out of the blue while accelerating while merging onto the freeway.) Now my question. if the stator/clutch is indeed the problem, do I just replace the stator and or clutch, or do replace the whole ac compressor with clutch already attached as well as the expansion valve and dryer? Any helpful information is very much appreciated. |
If you can pin point the problem to the clutch then just replace the clutch. If there's no need to evacuate the system then why do it.

I wish i knew more about ac stuff. I just had my pilot at RCG on monday, they looked after it wonderfully. Blowing colder than ever now.

thank you for the help guys. turns out that the ac clutch is bad. since the compressor isn't showing signs of being seized, i will be removing the compressor and replacing the clutch.

^they actually had recalls for this problem :)

Not too long ago I had a issue with my compressor coil, or what I thought was my coil but ended up being an issue with a shim.
So make sure you have the proper shim as well |
Shim? what shim? I bought a coil from the dealership, and I didn't see/missed the shim.
|
Maybe it's just for certain years/models... 07+civics, fit, cr-v as well
|
I usually replace the clutch and coil and as far as the "shims". Those are the little circle metal spacers that come with the clutch and coil along with the snap rings. Make sure you have the correct clearance before re-installing the compressor
