Emissions - Which place to go?

Time for emissions....any tips on any emission testing places? Are they all the same ?
Any place where they are not as strict as others?

thanks

in between buckeye and vanburen on rosevelt (spellcheck) just west of 51st on the right hand side. thats where we go and they are really quick.

the one at the airport in germain road. probably the one closest to you. when i used to work for a shop i used to take the cars there. they are a bunch of idiots that dont know their head from their ass. i mean, you will be surprised when they try to tell you the reasoning why you failed, it like they are reading straight out of a book. for obd2 cars, i think its the same everywhere. if your ecu is set, then no problems. if not, then you fail. i have HEARD", that in some spots if they cant communicate with your car, they will pass you, but i think that rumor was bogus since they are breaking state laws.anyways, good luck

that does happen with certain vehicles. i used to work for a dealership and always took cars to the emissions place at the chandler and beck location. the Jags i used to take never communicated with their computers and they never knew why. they sent me on to the gas cap test (which i passed)and i was on my way. some people that run an obd2 to obd1 harness sometimes pass because the computer trys to read an obd1 thinking its obd2. sometimes they dont ask questions and just send you on.

JC<3Ek 10-18-2008 12:31 AM

so the emssion testing at chandler blvd and beck is what ? they only test u wit gas cap test and if u pass they let u pass ? and what sup with the computer obd1 and obd2 so the comp try to read the obd1 and think is obd2 /

Blue92teg 10-18-2008 08:46 AM

if their computer couldnt read the cars ecu that i had at the time they will sometimes not ask any questions and send me through. maybe it was because they knew i worked for a dealership cause i was there all the time. it only happened 3-4 times .

Let me clarify the obd jumper harness story i heard through a friend i dont know if that really happened

If the computer is unable to communicate they perform a visual with the check engine light. They make sure it turns on when key is turned to acc and make sure it turns off when the car has started.

yeah my friend just passed that way about an hour ago. he has a 97 teg with obd1 ecu

schumi 10-18-2008 03:52 PM

Thanks folks...I had taken my 89 MR2 to Chandler and Beck some time back. They did what ever they can on that car and I failed......

Planning to get a bottle of G2P 'Guranteed to Pass Emissions' from Autozone or some where and drive around before going for testing...

Will keep you posted

TysCb7 10-18-2008 05:59 PM

59th ave & bell gets me passed everytime

dobslob 10-20-2008 07:09 AM

Just did that with my Jeep. The check engine light is fake, just set up with a timer circuit to act like it is supposed to. I don't have any wiring going to my obd2 plug, so it won't communicate. It doesn't need to since there is no ecu anyway.

ef-9 10-20-2008 09:24 AM

u got lucky, they failed me due to obd 2 system would not communicate.
I have a 97 civic with a p28

I just went here last week with the wifey's 2001 Altima. They checked my gas cap, hooked up the OBD2 reader, and sent me on my way. Took 10 minutes and $28.:idiot:

schumi 10-29-2008 06:27 PM

I went to the one in Germain and Cooper near the airport. Cool guys...Aleast they knew that for an MR2, the engine is in the back. They ran it on the roller. I had a bottle of 'Guarnteed to Pass' stuff mixed in half tank of gas...Passsed with flying colors ( I had also cleaned the EGR, CAT and retraded the timing)

schumi 10-29-2008 06:29 PM

Another update...

Went to the same place with 99GSR...They didn't run it at all. Just hooked up their cable to the port and said I am ready to go.

Slow_HX 10-29-2008 09:07 PM

i went there yesterday, and failed because my DLC was loose
