Driverside engine mount ripped out of block

JDM_CTR_EK9 08-18-2008 06:00 PM

yup...happens when you over torque the bracket and constant up and down movement and back and forth movement as well on the mount and bracket..

Fresh_manny21 08-18-2008 07:28 PM

so much power

JoshDC2 08-18-2008 07:39 PM

whoa...2nd b series in a red car to drop out since may...jajaja

damn bro sorry to hear...

JoshDC2 08-19-2008 12:31 AM

my car eats engines for fucking lunch and tries to shit them out

the shitting is the nasty part

and painful

kylevtec 08-19-2008 12:35 AM

happens alot with aftermarket mounts, vibrations loosen the bolts then they oblong and strip the holes.

JoshDC2 08-19-2008 12:40 AM

the bolts on the mounts are perfectly fine
its the piece that bolts to the engine and them bolts to the engine mount that failed.
that piece hasn't been toched by me. it was attached like that when i got it off the crate. and it failed

kylevtec 08-19-2008 12:44 AM

the bolts for the bracket that the mount bolts to. had it happen about 3 times, now i locktite those.

JDM_CTR_EK9 08-19-2008 12:45 AM

then give your car something that's easier to digest like a K......hehe....then it wont shit so painfully...and nasty....itll just shit on other more painfully and nastily....lol

JoshDC2 08-19-2008 12:46 AM

did the bolts just back out or did they take rip all the thread out with them?

JoshDC2 08-19-2008 12:47 AM

and shit on my check book.

hmm... k swap or college.... k swap or college

its a toughy

JDM_CTR_EK9 08-19-2008 12:54 AM

K swap buy now....:idiot:
college( financial aid) pay later....:clapper:

JoshDC2 08-19-2008 12:58 AM

yea i'm not so sure lol. its going to be fun doing a damage report in the middle of the street tomorrow..

JDM_CTR_EK9 08-19-2008 01:04 AM

i see...

JoshDC2 08-19-2008 09:42 AM

more pics from damage report

cbaracing 08-19-2008 11:23 AM

did you have the tourque mounts installed?

SlowCivicHmm 08-19-2008 11:58 AM

I was wondering the same thing.....lol

there is a reason they are down there, most peeps with HASport kits don't use them....heck even shops........

JoshDC2 08-19-2008 12:04 PM

nope. i was thinking that they probably would have saved my ass.
i just got lazy and never put them on the b20...

cbaracing 08-19-2008 12:36 PM

correct

make sure you put them on next time

cbaracing 08-19-2008 12:38 PM

you still need to use them

i cannot figure why people think they dont have to run them

JoshDC2 08-19-2008 01:42 PM

Either lazy or don't realize that it does something. And figure that since the upper mount is much stronger that it can handle all the burden of the engine.

I can say that i'll be putting my torque mounts(which have energy suspension inserts in them) back on after all this.

PhoenixB16 08-19-2008 02:00 PM

Exactly. Honda put them there for a reason, simple as that. I know soooo many people( track guys) that dont use them and swear they will be ok,but this PROVES what can happen.Josh, sorry to see that. Its never fun having anyhting of that magnitude happen to your car,but itll get fixed, and you learned from this happening.

cbaracing 08-19-2008 02:05 PM

its also a safety issue as well

the torque mounts keep the engine from going into the passenger compartment in the event of an accident

JoshDC2 08-19-2008 02:12 PM

I'm hoping that people see this thread and realize the benefit of torque mounts. the car is going to be fine.

I already talked to UMS today about getting the engine to them once i pull it out and having them put in Timeserts. Its just about the lest expensive option, short of buying a b18a or something or a short block.

I'm rather pissed at myself over the torque mounts now...:lame:

*inFamous* 08-19-2008 02:17 PM

Hhehe Time serts are saviours. :) Toldya those mounts are important!

JoshDC2 08-19-2008 02:28 PM

yea and it helps when you have friends with drills and presses lol
wanna help a brother out with the engine removal?

PhoenixB16 08-19-2008 02:34 PM

Word. A motor landing on your lap/knees WILL have a direct effect on your walking abilities.....lol

*inFamous* 08-20-2008 07:25 PM

Didja get er out yet? I bet she prolly fell out on the way home!
