i hear Built By Notorious can do street tunes?

For a dyno tune I would recommend Locash

Both are vendors here

Joe at Locash

Joe wont waste his time with a street tune only a dyno tune.

If you lived in tucson I know a guy who could.. He did mine n it works just fine

I don't understand why people cheap out on tunes, it is crazy. People on this site will spend 2000 dollars on rims to put on a 1500 dollar car or spend 800 dollars on seats to put in their cars, but people on here always claim to have just built a fresh motor but then run the car untuned or want a 100 dollar street tune.

"$2000 dollar car, supposed freshly built motors $1500, $1500 Sprint Harts, $1200 dollar Recaros,$100 STREET TUNE, a month later threads created to diagnose reason motor doesn't rev past 2000 RPMS and Smokes, PRICELESS."

Here's Locash's Pricing. If tuning NA with Hondata S300 = $350
Tuning on other than Neptune Or Hondata = $200 per hour
And if you are turbocharged and trying to do a street tune you are crazy.

true... I use my as my DD

AZ_CIVIC 08-16-2010 11:15 AM

Trust me, if you ask Joe if there is a difference between street tuning and dyno tuning he will explain in detail the difference so you know just how big it is. I have no problem paying Joe the $400 dollars to tune my car not because I want to see how much horsepower it makes, but because I want the car to perform to the best of its abilities safely and dyno tuning is the only way to get 100% accuracy.

But I guess everything Locash does in your opinion is to prove who has the biggest numbers. I guess Joe will be out of business now that the cat is out of the bag.

No problem, hey don't forget to invest your money in a 1000 dollar JDM bumber though, it will make your car faster than a good tune.

k20z3coupe 08-16-2010 12:26 PM

street tuning =RETARDED. blow that shit up asap is what you will do, or it will just run like crap. but its your car, were just trying to help you. like the prices say above, its not gonna cost 450

Boppers 08-16-2010 01:56 PM

No, it'll cost more. Street tuning isn't going to "blow that shit up asap" unless the tuner sucks cock.
Idk the technical terms, but Locash has a Dynapack dyno. If you ever looked at an ecu map it's broken down into columns, rpm vs load. Dynapacks can apply brake resistance to the car. Which allows you to tune every load per rpm if you wanted. On a street tune you'd have to find a hill with a true slope and repeatedly drive up it. It'd take forever.
Unless the street tuner is getting paid $0.25/hr he'll probably only do cruising on a flat surface and wide open throttle. Which is not good if you go on a Sedona run or anything involving non flat ground.
It's not only for a hp read out. It also shows your torque curve. Which is essential if you want to get your timing spot on. Most street tuners will just add timing until they hear some detonation and pull back a little. But the car may have stopped making power beforehand, so you'll end up running more timing than necessary.
I wouldn't street tune unless i was poor and doing it myself. If you take the time it could be decent, but for what you're paying, It'll only be good for driving to the track and doing some runs.

A tune is the worst thing to EVER skimp on. I know your "just a turbo'd lsvtec" But that right there says you should NOT skimp. Go with a reputable tuner, i dont care how they do it but go with someone like Joe that has a 5,000 page list of people to vouch for his quality.

I have nothing against BBN or any other shop, BBN is a great shop with great employe's. I just prefer to go to a guy that only tunes.

UMS is a great alternative as well. Also dyno tune = consistent resistance, consistent temperature, constant air pressure, constant testing. You dont raise elevation, and pressure change, temp change etc. If you know better than everyone here, maybe you shouldn't ask.

AZ_CIVIC knows wtf is up.

I've only seen two post on azht about street tuning. One guy lives in Tucson, the other in Phoenix, but he got banned.
Read up and do it yourself.

nelsmar 08-16-2010 07:15 PM

Its not shit talking, you posted on an open forum asking for suggestions, and you got open results :) I don't know any reputable street tuners off the top of my head. (no offense to anyone).
