Differential Fluid/Gear Oil

What's everybody use on here? Dealership uses mobil 1 synthetic 75w90 and that's what I am leaning towards at the moment. Anyone else use anything different? Royal Purple also makes a similar product in the same weight but also has LSD additives but my research has shown me that those mainly help clutch type lsds and it isn't necessary for our torsen type lsds. Let me know what everyone has used and how often you change the fluid.

I use Schaeffers 293 gear lube. Its a 75W 90 oil. Its hard to get in small quantities, have to go through a dealer, just so happens my friend was and i got a lot of it.

Popular choices are the mobil 1 you mentioned, and LE1605.

Lots of good reading here - Oil Journals on S2ki.

Royal Purple 75w90 every 12-20k miles. Never really looked too much into it, a friend recommended it so i went for it.

Nice, yeah the mobil seems to be the most popular and its the same as what our dealerships use. Royal purple is so expensive, $18/quart where as mobil1 $11/quart. Might try them both to see if there's any noticeable difference.

doubt you'll really see a difference in almost any fluid TBH. lol but yeah its a bit pricey, but not horribly expensive.

BBSick 07-31-2010 11:40 AM

Yeah I mean if there's no difference that I can notice then I will just stick with the mobil1

its going to be like noticing the difference between chevron, and QT. People get way way too worked up about some stuff, what counts is moly content etc.
