96 itr steering wheel
i got one for my ej1 and did not know that the horn setup would be different does anyone know how to hook it up without jimmy riggin???
Itrs were made from 97-01. Just so you know
no 99's though
Is this a non airbag wheel? If so i think you need the wiper switch and the horn ring from non airbag car.
he is talking about a JDM type R, which there was in 96. why would he want a USDM type R wheel seeing they look the same.
They are leather wrapped instead of rubber .
1995 was the first year
so is the 98+ gsr |
any 98+ integra wheel is leather wrapped ;)
yes its a 96 just so YOU know.
correct its non air bag... do you know if there is a way to use the ef/da setup?? let b20joe know.... anyway just trying to get my horn to work without hacking any wires and such... dont want some stupid button on the side either.... |
you are going to have to cut and splice wires to get the horn to work properly unless you can get the factory jdm integra wiring to make it work
I see.... by any chance do you know if the da ef setup would suffice? |
its going to have to be something along those lines for it to work
ive seen 98+ without leather steering wheels. i think they were in early 98 rs integras
if you use the the shoe horn from a second gen RS integra you can get them to work. part # 35259-SK7-A01. its discontinued but if you can find it you can get it to work. |
awesome. ive been hating life without a horn....
ill be on the prowl for one at the local bone yards |
just thought i would update this i picked up a shoe horn from the junk yard
1. acquire said shoe horn i have found that any ef or da have essentially the exact same shoe horn takes about two minutes to remove from start to finish all you will need is a 19 mm socket, extension about 6", and ratchet. (for removal) pay close attention to how and where it is mounted because it essentially mounts up to the exact same spot on your eg/ej. btw this is for those of you getting rid of your srs airbag 2. bend the rear of the shoe horn (it kinda kinks straight up) so it doesnt cause a short on the steering column (what i did is after connecting the wire for it i put a piece of heat shrink over it). 3. run the wire from the shoe safely through or around the steering column 4. the plug that sould normally end up going to your clock spring has six wires(all of them are grey) 5. the plug itself should have numbers on it the wire for the horn is the 6th one. 6. CAREFULLY TEST IT BY JUST TAPPING THEM TOGETHER YOUR HORN SHOULD GO OFF. 7. snip that ONE, and correctly solder and heat shrink 8. ENJOY! i know these are pretty broad but if anyone needs pics or additional info i will post up pics. |
I think the da shoe horn works better but both fine
couldnt find a da that day but very well possible.
