polish them...thats the way to go!
Nice car, and rims
i have polished blades
there was a write up that i followed but im too lazy to follow. if memory serves me correctly: buy 2 cans of aircraft stripper. spray it on your rims and all of the clear coat will bubble up. then, spray it with water (it should come off) and hit it with some steel wool. if you want to paint, then now you are good to go. if you have any scratches / curb marks then sand them down, then paint. if you want to polish... set aside some time then: hit it with 320 grit sandpaper 400 grit 600 grit wet 800 grit wet 1000 grit wet 1500 grit wet after this your rims should be very smooth with fine scratches. trust me when you start with the sandpaper you will be thinking "what the f*ck did i just do to my blades!!," but in the end it will turn out. after sanding, hit it with a can of mothers mag aluminum polish. BAM - polished rims. |
also, if you have REALLY bad curb marks, hitting it with a dremel wheel before you start sanding will save a lot of time. although, i dont recommend using the dremel for the spokes.
Are you asking If you can paint them PEARL??? anyways.
What i did: Since some of them were painted, i wet sanded, and wet sanded, and wetsanded. Then i primered the entire wheel, with two coats of primer, just because. Picked up some bronze paint from home depot in a rattle can. Applied three coats, and that was it. I was in a hurry that night though. i wanted a fourth coat, then lightly wet sand with a very fine grit(i.e. 1500, or 2000), and apply either a satin clear, do deepen/darken the color a bit, or just a gloss clear to finish it off. I'm very please with the way they turned out. That is a decent picture, but even there they look so much better in person. |
if your going to paint them then just powder coat. turns out better
thanks guys i will post some pics i hope i dont fuck them up lol
