yay......701.02.a.2

Well sadly I received a 701.02.a.2 or 20 over, last week.

This is my first ticket and I don't really know how to handle it. I'm pretty sure some of you might be familiar with this violation so help would be appreciated.

Please keep bullsh*t out tf this thread.

Thank you

Was it excessive speeding?

The God Damn Batman 07-31-2012 09:43 AM

Traffic school.

jdm egizzle 6 07-31-2012 09:54 AM

CodeJDM 07-31-2012 09:56 AM

Okay guys, Thank you for your help. Sadly I can't go to traffic school. I forgot about my little fender bender last year so Im fucked by the 48 month rule.

I got this ticket in goodyear and It's a CRIMINAL ticket soooooo I really really really want it to drop to a civil.

I leaning towards getting a traffic lawyer and plied not guilty hoping they would give me a good plea deal.

ICD 07-31-2012 10:05 AM

What's the ticket?

ALLBLVCK 07-31-2012 10:08 AM

It's a "excessive speed 20mph over posted 45 zone"

taintschwacker 07-31-2012 10:10 AM

Even if you were able to go to traffic school, you cant for this ticket. Cant traffic school for criminal traffic, only civil. Go to court and plead. Usually they will lower it if it is your first offense for speeding.

InFaMoUs_1 07-31-2012 10:13 AM

They Wont DROP* it to civil thats for sure....

Bob Loblaw 07-31-2012 10:22 AM

Yea they wont lower it. When I got mine the judge offered me a $3k fine and 2 years probation or a day in jail no fine or prob.

ALLBLVCK 07-31-2012 10:24 AM

I really do hope so,

Please specify why?

ALLBLVCK 07-31-2012 10:27 AM

Really? I keep reading that the maximum fine is 500.

Bob Loblaw 07-31-2012 10:32 AM

Well im sure our circumstances were a bit different. I guess the point I was trying to convey is judges look down on speeding. Especially when they see excessive on the ticket. You could try and plead it down but I can't guarantee you it will be worth the time or money to fight it.

InFaMoUs_1 07-31-2012 10:34 AM

Because criminal and civil are different. Once criminal it cannot be rescinded. I got a 267 dollar fine and was on summary probation till i paid the fine which i did the following week. Then filled the paperwork out to have my summary probation stricken from record since i finished paying off the fine.

They handle criminal traffic completely different then civil that's for sure.

HEADSHOT 07-31-2012 10:34 AM

yeah it will be a misdameanor. i had to pay like 600 bucks for my ticket. no jail time though. had to take a traffic survival class for the amount of points it put on my record

ALLBLVCK 07-31-2012 10:12 PM

Any more suggestions?

Koopa Troopa 07-31-2012 10:19 PM

I'd take the day in jail, release a rap album and profit from the mad street cred.

Bob Loblaw 07-31-2012 10:36 PM

Haha I took the day didn't release the album lol

I learned from my mistake and stopped speeding.

failedabortion 07-31-2012 10:44 PM

I took traffic school for a criminal traffic ticket(67 in a 40) from peoria pd. I called a few days after to get a list of options before the court date and somehow traffic school was one of them. That was my first ticket, was driving my f250, was respectful and assume I didn't get taken in that night because they were moto officers.

Got busted doing over 100 in a 45. Cop didn't take me to jail, but had more then enough court dates. Got an attorney who didn't do much. Eventually went in front of a judge plead no contest. Ended up with a 800 dollar fine and 40 hours of community service. Judge took it easy on me cause I was a full time student with very good grades. Initial plea bargain was a week jail and 400 dollar fine. I know it was extremely stupid, my only defense was I was dumb and young. I since have not got another speeding ticket. Some times fighting the ticket may help, it all depends on your judge.

taintschwacker 08-01-2012 08:16 AM

You sure it was criminal traffic? I have bee pulled over for 20+mph before and instead of the ticket being criminal, he put it as civil with the speed i was going.

ALLBLVCK 08-01-2012 10:34 AM

Thanks for all the feed back guys , I'm still a confused on what I should do but I got a month to think. Ever since getting the ticket, I've calm down on the speed pedal and use cruise control a lot more.

89true1 08-01-2012 12:03 PM

Pay ticket.= no court date... move on /thread

bseries1320 08-01-2012 12:56 PM

LOL at all the LegalShield posts...
Unfortunately it isnt a "get outta speeding Free" deal...but it definitely would be nice to have that Lawyer on speed dial to offer CORRECT and LEGAL Advice wouldnt it? Everyone on here thinks they know the law because their brothers-friends-cousins-exboyfriends-brotherinlaws- sister went thru the same thing.

I dont know if Scott has cornered the market on the Legal Shield on here....But if he hasnt chimed in...look up the facts.

Like I said, get a REAL LAWYER to give you advice regardless of what you do...Otherwise you could waste alot of time AND money.
