Cheap...er home audio question
So, I'm thinking about getting a couple of things for the new house and I can't decide what to get. I'm a little poor with all of the crap we're going to have to do to the house, but this is just necessary.
Yamaha RX-V371BL 5.1-Channel A/V Receiver and Energy 5.1 Take Classic Home Theater System (Set of Six, Black) It's going to set me back just a little over $500. Sound like a decent deal for an intro system? |
Pawn shops!! especially during holiday season!! People need money for the upgrading of new merch.

I would stay away from those surrond speakers in a box, you will loose a lot of mid bass. Energy is really good entry level brand. I used to have a set of the cf- 50 towers and they sounded really clean. I think I paid a little over $400 for the pair. Another good brand is Polk audio. Newegg has some decent deals on varies Polk towers.
As for receivers, best buy had a good deal of an entry level pioneer elite for $249, that I jest picked up. I doesn't have a pretty interface that my old onkyo had, and it can only run a second zone using another amp. The onkyo 3 series receiver is also a good buy, but I found the elite has a little crisper sound. Overall, I would piece your stereo together, it may take longer to complete, but it will sound better. Use towers as fronts, a good center speaker and don't waste a lot of money on rears. As for a sub, go with at least a 10". Your best bang for buck brands are energy, Polk and kiplish. |
