sick my friend has a wagon i will post a pic
|
|
wow, pretty clean. I really like the stance, but those rims aren't my style.
Can't wait to get mine tinted! Makes a huge difference! |
the largest d-series sohc was a 1.7 but it's not what you have, you have a 1.6 if it's a zc...
car looks mean as hell, digging it... good luck on the rtawd stuff, personally i think it's not worth it but if it's all in good shape make sure to keep it that way! |
you do know that it's not "all-wheel" drive all the time right?? It's "all-wheel" drive sometimes when the conditions are correct. Good find tho good luck with the project.
|
yeah it's all wheel real time some of the time 85%F/15%R 4wd... lol...
if you want a real beast do what that one dude on h-t did and swap a subi rear end on that fucker haha. |
Thanks for the info on the engine size. My friends are all sure it's a 1.6, I just don't know how to tell.
not worth what? the car was cheap, and the AWD stuff is pretty mint.. Under what conditions is the car 4wd? The car isn't much of a project. since it's all there, and functioning well. I just have to fix a couple leaks.. maybe some basic maintainance. I already have a beast... my FC is plenty powerful. This is just my grocery getter, so I can register my FC with collector insurance. |
Whenever there is any difference in the speed of rotation between the No.1 and No.2 propeller shafts, such as when the front wheels lose traction, there is friction between the housing plates (drive side) and the hub plates (driven side) .This friction is caused by the resistance of the plates sliding against the silicon oil. This resistance between the plates and the silicon oil is what begins to transmit torque from the housing plates to the hub plates and eventually to the rear wheels. This transmission of torque is proportionate to the difference in the speed of rotation of the wheels.
As the difference in propeller shaft speed continues, the temperature of the silicon oil keeps rising. Due to thermal expansion, the pressure inside the viscous coupling unit is also increasing as the temperature rises. When the pressure becomes high enough, the housing plates begin to contact the hub plates and the engine torque to the rear wheels increases rapidly, as noted in the diagram below. To reduce plate wear, there are spacer rings to limit plate to plate contact. (ref: (FAQ) Real-time 4 wheel Drive 4wd rt4wd: date Oct. 19,2009). If the car came with the owners manual the info provided above is also included. Also you can tell how big a honda engine is by it's model name D15x are all 1.5 liters, k20x are all 2.0 liters, c30 are all 3.0 liters and so on and so forth. |
he said it says zc, so in that case it's a 1.6 because that's the only zc that was ever made.
|
Thanks RiceK, that's a perfect explanation!
|
Thanks. Here is my shopping list for tomorrow:
water pump timing belt valve cover gasket thermostat head gasket (just in case) plugs / wires oil / air filter Where is the best place for OEM parts? How quality is Checker, BAP, NAPA? |
will the 91 Civic Chilton manual work for this car?
|
yes man, its not a damn ufo, its a 91 civic right?
:poke: clean though :) |
I'm no honda tech... just double checking bro.
Especially since the car seems to have a engine swap. I also didn't know if the AWD components would change things at all. I've been wrapped up in the rotary world for 10 years, where every model, every series, every generation, is vastly different and not directly interchangeable.... slack please :D |
yes the manual will work and also there's even a section in it regarding your all wheel drive.
|
Cool, I got all my parts and the Chilton manual today. Busy weekend ahead!
|
|
|
fuckin siiiiiiiiiiiiick, keep it up
|
took me a while to figure out also how to remove the crankpulley bolt. The haynes manual actually suggests using a "chain wrench", wrap it around the crank pulley with a used pulley belt. Also with mine I had to use an extension pipe along with the breaker bar it makes things a hell of a lot easier to turn 100+ lbs. of pressure.
|
I checked all over town, no one had the "Honda" tool
I thought about trying a chain wrench, but I didn't want to dimple the pulley. It was tough, but things should start to go smoother now... i hope. |
Sick wagovan, I love um..
Ill be checkin in on this thread, hopefully this will be a nice modest and clean one. kudos |
nice wheels
|
did you buy this from a mexican family down the street from 18th ave?
damn man i could have gotten you that stuff for way cheaper. lmk if you need anything else. wholesale ftw! also i have LOTS of spare parts for this car so hit me up if you need anything. doesn't work on a d series |
I bought it from a Mexican family but not on 18th ave. It was the central and Broadway area. I'll let you know what else I need. If I can get better prices, I'm all for it!!!
What parts do you have? Any seats, coils, rims? you know you want em :x Some things are more important than wheels... like BASIC MAINTAINANCE Thanks FrankTheTank. I'll lay it out for you: Tint some black RSX or CRX Si Seats A stock-ish front lip Honda Rear spoiler coils with a 2" drop SportMax 16s, tucked! Quiet muffler with muffled tips What do ya'll think? |
kewl setup nice start
|
I bought a 3/4 " impact for the crank pulley/harmonic balancer.
|
The impacts did nothing... I only have a small compressor, that may have been why.
|
doesn't work on HIS d-series...
the z6 has the recessed hex key for that tool to work... but alas the d15 and early d16's do not. i just went through this, when the bolt is torqued to spec it's actually not that bad to remove, too many people zing it on with an impact, i just had my wife step on the brakes with the car in fifth took me all of 1 minutes to break it with a 36" breaker bar. |
