help with the engine temp
 

o have a single cam in an eg and just the other day i was driving and the engine temparte started going up and down when i pulled over the engine didnt feel hot in any way and my fan was on. we checked the water in the radiator it was full and the fan was working but my fan gauge has always been accurate. what else could be the problem?

thermostat i think. same shit happen to my car. they are only 10-15 bucks.

you mezn the sensor or just that the cluster is messed up? so is the car really overheating because it doesnt feel like it and its not shooting any vapors out either

make sure to get the gasket with the thermostat if it doesn't come with it. also, were you checking the radiator for coolant or just the reservoir?

well changing your thermostat is quick (10-30 mins depending on who you are) and cheap (~$15). do that, then if you still are getting fluctuating temps, then it is something else. if you are not loosing coolant at all, it is most likely the temperature sending unit (or is there another name?).

the thermostat. where is that located at? is it the sensor that the cooling fan connets to? i checked the radiator and its full but i saw some build up on the radiator cap. but the resivor is empty. . .. . . .

When my 95 hatch did this, the ground connecting the engine at the top of the valve cover was loose. I tightened it and the gauge funtioned normally again

seee the thing is my car doesnt have one and i completly forgot my friend said the exact same thing!

now the car over heats really bad quick then it will randomly go down very little but then says up high
