test the low/high switch?

insanemechanic 09-11-2011 12:22 AM

How do I do that? I don't know how

Dude, you just need to take it to someone who know's what they are doing. You can afford a S2K, surely you can pay someone to look at it.

I dont know alot about A/C, but it sounds like the pressures are off. Low and high side may be low.

Who did the A/C last?

Your ac fan is out

drift4agze 09-21-2011 12:14 PM

I got my money on that.

a/c fan still works checked it , and the low and high pressures wont level out , they have been checked by shops and no one can put their fingers on the problem , .....
as far as checking goes , the fans are both working properly , the a/c compressor is working properly ,im catching wind the a line may be clogged ?? since the car is from a state were a/c isnt a must it might not have been used until now

Flush kit....

I had the same problem. Everything worked but it would only blow cold at mid to high rpm. Shop did an evac and recharge, said it was .3 pounds low. Problem solved

i apricate all the helpp thanks guys

If the pressure won't level out then it is most likely a line issue, or a compressor issues.

It would also make since that at "higher" rpms the air blows colder, as a worn compressor will only "work well" at higher rpm (usually.)

Does the pressure "wobble" excessively with the gauges on it? With a good compressor and a full charge the needles should stay somewhat steady, if you have a fair amount of needle movement that is a tell-tale sign of a compressor issue.

Word, you might have a little moisture in the system, and I would definitely consider flushing due to a clogged condenser or something. Have you ever replaced the compressor? A chipped/busted compressor will definitely clog some debris in the condenser or expansion valve. A previous repair might have not been done properly. (in the case that its ever been serviced previously..)

I would consider a flush/new dryer/vacuum and recharge. If the compressor was really acting up, it would probably make noise, and intermittently cut power to the clutch from the thermal switch.
