Home Theatre?
does anyone have a home theatre?
|
When you say home theater are you asking about an actaul home theater with projector and all or just a nice TV setup and Surround sound setup?
|
^this^
i've got a big fucking tv and some shit Bose cubes, but it ain't no theatre |
I used to be into home theater..now I just have a 46" sony and a Samsung sound bar with a wireless sub, sounds good enough to me (having had multiple real surround sound systems in the past)
|
I have a projector setup and whatnot.
It is not some super-duper setup. Just an Acer HD projector and some low-budget surround sound. I have maybe $550 invested for a HD 106" screen. What is nice, most lower priced projectors are perfectly viewable in the daytime as well. |
55 LED LG, 7.1 Onyx surround sound setup. Its decent but will build my next one from scratch.
|
yes projector setup, i think everyone has a tv and surround these days.
im trying to decide on some surround sound, i've usually used out of the box setups.. but was hoping maybe to devote a little more money for a nicer setup. really not looking to blow a lot a lot though i have any extra room im turning into a little theatre... i used to have the projector in my room but it just got too hot so i'm moving everything to a more legit setup in the extra room Paul when measuring theatre screens you normally measure straight across... are you running 106" diag or across? im right a 8ft right now, its a short room, but thats ok. i'm sure the room won't be used very often but just have everything for it and the space so i said why not! my screen comes in next week, picked up an electronic retractable one. |
106 Diag. I could go bigger, but this was an easy size to setup so I am happy with it.
|
right on

Private Boom Boom room!!
|
in 7.1!
|
man i wish i had the space to do it.
for my tv in the living room its kind of a old set up now but was bad ass back in the day. Pioneer Elite 60" Pioneer Elite receiver. Tri Trix Trio's for the speakers. have it powered right now with a server to hold all of my blue ray rips and using xbmc with a hdhomerun for tv. |
those pioneer elites aren't cheap lol
i was looking at a harman kardon reciever |
ehh mine are old school ones now. its the last gen elite plasma. still bad ass just older.
crazy how fast stuff moves. i have the pro-151hd and the vsx-03txh |
yea i was looking at their receivers and that's what i was referring too... i don't think i could spend a thousand plus on a receiver i'm just not that into it lol
|
yea i dont blame you. it kind of sucks because my nice unit is already outdated. its not a good investment lol, but it still works great for me.
|
yea im honestly not trying to impress anyone i just want something nice... my ears probably aren't even tuned enough to really understand that differences lol
|
with how stuff is now days its really not hard to get a nice system for a decent price.
i think the best thing i have invested into is a htpc. a lot of people dont like the idea of a computer attached but mine does my dvr, my tv guide all my live tv the works. the interface is nice and its really not expensive to do. i have a old laptop with hdmi powering my main tv. I think the best part is being able to have all your movies digital. i rip them all into a mkv and all my covers and artwork are downloaded automaticaly. if i want to watch a movie it loads instantly on any of my tvs. no lag at all on blue rays. I keep my movies stored on a server but the cost was so cheap i used a old P4 which was giving to me for free and installed ubuntu server wich is also free. the only thing that cost me was the hard drive space. (which if you rent red box blue rays is cheaper then buying anyways) |
I have a computer running behind my couch that my projector set-up uses. It is awesome, I use it for HBOgo, Hulu, DVR, play games on, etc.
|
yeaaaaa its def the way to go!
i have a hdhomerun prime with a cable card. i get all the channels that you would with a normal cable box but so much better. now if cox would stop flagging all there channels so i could use mythtv properly i would be set! |
I'm running my old reliable Logitech Z5450 lol.. Love the richness of the sound after 7 years of use.
Gonna shop for a Yamaha setup soon |
|
the wiring is dope ^
|

here is my messy ass closet that everything is in right now.( don't mind the patch work, its from old stuff thats already moved!) I am in the process of moving everything to a rack because my shit is a mess. server is in one room. cable modem and router is in another. camera dvr is in another. and then this.
hopefully with in a few weeks everything will be in its new server rack. |
For audio I have a Yamaha RX-V 3900 9.1 channel reciver. 2 1000 watt 12 volt amps to power 2 12" subs and 1 10" infinity ported 220 watt sub.
For Video I am using a Viewsonic pro 8100 1080p projector and a 96" Fire Storm screen with a velvet wraped aluminum frame. |
