Atraleo 01-11-2012 11:30 PM

I did 1 event so far at FIR, with an awesome instructor in a Silver Lotus, I just can't remember the guys name! For 2012, I hope to bring about a more focused approach on my track experience, and finish the build on my car by May so I can get some quality seat time in for the fall. Looking to take the summer off though, that 1 summer event led me to think I never want to run in the heat again! Haha. See you all soon.

mixedCRX 01-12-2012 12:08 AM

Dead Bird said it best lol

I might be going back March 12th... Reg is still open for the event ;)

BlueTeg 01-12-2012 12:43 AM

Doug E.
Cool guy. Great driver.

Dead Bird 01-12-2012 02:10 AM

You buying?

mixedCRX 01-13-2012 11:22 AM

only if you make is worth my while :th_supergay:

Dead Bird 01-13-2012 12:15 PM

Haha no problem

Atraleo 01-13-2012 01:28 PM

There ya go! Doug. Yeah, he was SUPER informative and was very patient and cool. I gotta give props to all the instructors, when I went off track, I scared the daylights outta myself, and I was holding the wheel! Anyways, if anyone knows of a "clean" or "track prepped" chassis I could buy please, let me know. I want to get back on track ASAP!

BlueTeg 01-14-2012 01:49 AM

PM kingdingaling on here. He has a very nice itr chassis that would make a great track car.
Otherwise there is a race ready DA down in Tucson. PM me and I can put u in touch with the owner.

Koopa Troopa 01-14-2012 04:36 AM

There's a really nice EG hatch on Phoenix craigslist for 3k.

Atraleo 01-15-2012 08:20 AM

I think that the ITR chassis is a little out of my price range. But I will PM you.

Vtecracer 02-01-2012 09:08 AM

The EG hatch is now sold and being completed to compete in HONDA CHALLENGE. We could always use more of the road race hondas but right now we have 8 with 2 more nearing completion, and 4 still parked in garages. WE could easily field a 15 car race if everyone got there cars out of mothballs.

Dead Bird 02-01-2012 11:22 AM

I got my tires mounted. Been looking over pad/rotor choices for a few days now.

Really should be all.
Now just to get my 1 day a week off to be during an event!

Agent Smith 02-01-2012 11:29 AM

Valuecraft autozone rotors $20 each
PBR Ultimate Ceramic Pads $40-50/set with hookup at NAPA on broadway/37th st.
ATE SuperBlue Fluid $15-$20/bottle - UMS Tuning has local or order online ogracing.com

Dead Bird 02-01-2012 11:39 AM

I was budgting for 2-300 on track dedicated pads and rotors. Am going to be swapping out my cheapy street stuff either the night before events, or the day of.

But I'm gonna guess all I "need" is a decent set and it'll be good enough for me for now.

Broskiballa 02-01-2012 03:59 PM

Plan: to actually make it to an event and get some track time in. My cars done, I need to find time and stop being a sissy.

civil 02-02-2012 08:35 AM

Second this.

reuqse 02-03-2012 08:17 AM

After chuckwalla pads, rotors, oil cooler, new rims and tires, and. Cross my fingers for a bone stock b16 to stay in ta-a b4 the next event!!!!!

LoooseGSR 02-04-2012 08:34 AM

that shouldn't be an issue for you Mikey, GSR will probably keep you in TA-A as well depending on weight.

Koopa Troopa 02-04-2012 10:24 AM

One make race? I'm game depending on what the requirements will be.

You talking about the EG on craigslist? If so major bummer. I was hoping it'd still be around in May :(

Vtecracer 02-21-2012 09:59 AM

Checkout . We are running Honda Challenge cars at this years NASA events. Check them out at

We so far have had integra DA's and DC's, Eg, and EK civic hatches and coupes, EF crx's , 06 4 dr SI and 2 dr si, and type r's all on track at the same time. This has been epic so far and has been great fun. Come check it out and talk with us at the next event. And this is not hot lap, TT, or driving education. This is Road Racing , wheel to wheel racing with standing starts. Really fun.

here is a sample video from our race start and some track action at chuckwalla on saturday.

Koopa Troopa 02-21-2012 11:00 AM

Sounds like a blast however it seems my itb'd 305 duration vtec killer set up is not allowed and that makes me sad :(

I couldn't find my answer to the question in the rule book what what licenses are required?

SlowCivicHmm 02-21-2012 11:48 AM

Comp License Needed to race with any group.......each group provides the license and testing for license as to race you should be a regular to the events.......

I have yet to see anyone go from noob to race group.....who would do that??? haha

mixedCRX 02-21-2012 07:01 PM

I plan on doing it this year!

SlowCivicHmm 02-21-2012 07:01 PM

^^^ you aren't a nooob!! you have more than enough seat time to do race group fooo!! hahahhaa

mixedCRX 02-21-2012 07:09 PM

I haven't even driven track for a year yet, I'll say I'm not a noob once I'm in race group and holding my own.

Koopa Troopa 02-21-2012 07:21 PM

That Honda Challenge rule book kills me as it seems they've eliminated any sort of fun by making it "spec" Honda. Minimum weight 2100 pounds for a B16 powered car is kinda excessive... Is that with driver? I'd have to make a weight ballast just because I took the seats out and added frp buckets...

mixedCRX 02-21-2012 07:44 PM

W/driver and all safety equipment, that's normally how they measure weight
