Emissions Help
Sup fellas! I dont think I have ever posted in a tech forum, but I need some pointers.
95 LX with 247k miles on this hog. I thoroughly doubted I would pass emissions because of a huge hole in the exhaust, so I took it down and it failed Hydorcarbons (HC). A passing score is .80 and I failed with a .83 I believe. I bought an aftermarket no name muffler and had it put on and I failed again only worse. So I dug around on the web and spark plugs/wires/cap and rotor are recommended. When I changed the plugs I noticed I had a bad o-ring seal and one of the plugs was oil soaked so I was sure that was the problem. So i changed the plugs and wires, and the cap/rotor are not that old so I held off. This time when I tried again it was a .88 out of .80. I do not want to run alcohol or Heat to pass, I really want to fix it. What should I replace from here, the cat?? |
did you use OEM honda or NGK ignition components?
a replacement cat might do the trick. meow i do rent cats for emissions purposes :2cool: |
I used NGK platinum plugs and Omnicore wires, I think that was the name.
Im gonna rent a cat from you Chris and throw it on and see if I pass. Ill text you man. |
If replacing your cat still doesn't do the trick then try replacing your gas cap. :autored:

Oh and check your o2 sensors!
