*Official Photo Contest* Sep 20th - Oct 3rd
I was asked for more time, so now it is extended two weeks.
The coming weeks theme will be.... aperture priority. I guess I'll turn this into something like a class. I've always had the itch to teach photography. So i guess lets focus on the settings of the camera and the most important thing.. composure! If i see a really well composed photo with crappy editing, I'd be glad to assist you to make it better looking. Lets seem some silky bokeh. Subjects can be ANYTHING, as long as there is a very nice DOF. I will only post bokeh dot photos if they are creative! Feel free to ask me questions about anything. _____________________________________________ Photos must be emailed to me: You may submit from start date to end date When submitting, all submissions are anonymous, I only know, so don't use watermarks! NO ARCHIVE PHOTOS, I will check EXIF data if I feel they are old! |
Cool! That's my favorite part of photog!
now we're talkin
Had to ask my lady what that ment. I like this idea a lot! Good luck everyone!
hmm... Wondering if squid or anyone will catch some stuff on this thread... hmm lol
Also as i said before i think it would be best to have them Private message it to you instead of email because most emails that are sent (or for many of my friends) the email doesnt go through in time or it does but the attached items arent there especially if they have something other then you like you are using msn but if someone where to use yahoo or something to send to you, would have a greater chance on not getting to you in time or to be corrupt. ;) Just tips |
Ya, I caught it alright... just dont want to ruin another thread. It is what it is... he is who he is... but totally with you there.
really not a huge deal, i pm'd my last submission though. I think he wants it emailed for the few people that dont know how to post images (and there are a few)
i dont know what aperature priority means lol
"The main purpose of using aperture-priority mode is to control the depth of field. Aperture priority is useful in landscape photography, where a narrow aperture is necessary if objects in foreground, middle distance, and background are all to be rendered crisply, while shutter speed is often immaterial. It also finds use in portrait photography, where a wide aperture is desired to throw the background out of focus and make it less distracting."
dang this one is going to be pretty spiffy
:goodpost: I didn't know what it ment either, and I asked my lady and she just said it was shutter speed where one thing stays still and the background moves. Makes sense how you worded it! |
its a set depth of field.
assuming everyone is using a DSLR up in this hizzy, just set it to, "A" and set the lowest number possible.
Try and get close to objects but not too close, also the backgrounds will affect bokeh. hint... best places for epic bokeh are grassy fields |
Im going with a straight on boner shot with pubic hair as the backround
now all you need to do is grow some pubic hair.
Alopecia, is not a humorous subject... its a serious disease.
charles teaching photography made me lol.

aperture priority - "just put it on the lowest number"
lol idk if anyone needs an explanation on how to properly set aperture or not. traditionally, aperture is meant to control what is and is not in focus in your shots. a fast aperture is not always best. If focus falls off your subject too soon, then a pic can look bad (see my NSX shot). I'd like to see people keep their entire subject in focus with a blur'd (bokeh) b/g. but that's just me. IMO, this should not be a "how much can you bokeh" contest. I guess that doesn't really matter though since the masses will be judging. |
yeah because if its how much bokeh, whoever has a nice prime macro is going to win, 1inch distant object @ full open wins! lol. I assumed, and am hoping this was supposed to be best use of DOF contest. Shooting wide open all the time can really kill your photos, its better to go slightly higher Fstop than slightly less (at least IMO, nothing like blur like in the NSX shot, sucks when you get home and realize what happened)
We should also take into consideration the subject and composition. Not just bokeh because if some one has a 50mm f/1.2 against someone who has an 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6, that is no competition lol.
Thats what makes things a challenge for others. I use 18-55mm... lol
You can get some cool shots with that lens. I have it too! =)
Yeah i still have kit lense... Idk what bokeh is either.. i guess i could look it up haha
