Clutch engages on its own!?

Ok so my clutch feels like it engages on its own...

A shift into gear have the pedal all the way down and sometimes a rattle sound comes from the engine bay and the car jumps and turns off as if i released the clutch pedel and i can't go in gear till i pump the clutch a couple times even with the car off...

I already replaced the throw out bearing and checked my slave and master cylinder but it still keeps doing it...

its not like it starts moving as if a baby the clutch out but it just jerks and turns off like if i just released the pedal completely.....

P.S. it only does it sometimes other times it works without a problem.
anyone know what might be wrong? any help is apreciated
thanks

air bubbles in ur clutch line i think?

1 Dude 07-17-2010 07:28 PM

but it makes a rattling noise?

Obd1_GsR 07-17-2010 10:00 PM

^^ does it sound like a bearing?? cause if the clutch has air in the line the pedal wont fully bring the throwout bearing back into the trans and so the bearing spins. Bleed the system drive it around long enough to make sure its good and if it acts up again look for leaks right when it happens.

also when its working fine do you hear the noise??

Habmx 07-17-2010 11:15 PM

I would atleast bleed your slave to see if theres air in the lines. It would just allow you to rule that out and its not like it costs anything if you have some brake fluid around. My car is doing almost the exact same thing, and i just found a grip of air in my clutch lines today. im gunna drive it for a few days and see what happens.

yea it does but i already replaced that.... the old one was crap anyway so i needed to change it. but it does the same thig.

1 Dude 07-18-2010 08:44 AM

yea thats what ima do then hopefully thats the problem. thanksfor the help,

Obd1_GsR 07-18-2010 11:35 AM

that doesnt mean the bearing is bad, that's the clue that you have air in the lines and the bearing isnt retracting fully so it makes noise. same thing if it was a cable tranny and the cable was too loose.

1 Dude 07-18-2010 02:29 PM

but the bearing i replaced hissed. and when i removed it. it was kinda stiff to spincompared to the new one... shoot im bleedind it right now. hopefully it workes

Obd1_GsR 07-18-2010 03:27 PM

hahahah.... Im also not saying your old bearing wasnt bad..... only thing im saying is that the new bearing is making noise cause there is Air in your lines.

Habmx 07-18-2010 11:35 PM

did you bleed it? any air?

Mr.Burner 07-19-2010 12:06 AM

slave or master cyl. bleed them

imm0rtal 07-19-2010 04:19 PM

Air in your lines, etc, etc.

Another possibility is your pedal isn't adjusted right. I know with mine it originally engaged like on the floor, but I played with it a bit and got it to engage where it should.

Obd1_GsR 07-19-2010 06:05 PM

^^ etc... etc, is because the dude still has yet to do it. and everyone responds with the same thing the first guy said, every time i swap a trans and air gets in the line i will hear the throwout bearing when the pedal is all the way up. i bleed the system and then the pedal doesn't feel like a sponge and the bearing retracts all the way

tell casper to get out of your car.

maybe its your slave cylinder going out

efhatchsi 07-20-2010 05:03 PM

how about fluid in there in the first place? hehe there are some stupid people out there "me" ..

james60257 07-21-2010 09:54 PM

sounds like air in the lines to me bleed em man

1 Dude 07-22-2010 09:01 PM

already bleed the clutch lines. wasnt that. turns out one of the flywheel bolts snapped ad it was bouncing around inside. so it forced the clutch to egage on its own.... sorry i hadnt kept you posted was busy with work

tyrap26 07-25-2010 06:23 PM

and you didnt heat the bolt bouncing around?!?? its usually the worst noise ever!!

RPG2ach 07-27-2010 01:55 AM

Dramatic conclusion is, double check your torque specs :/

die in a dick fire noob 07-27-2010 06:08 AM

^ also use new bolts when installing the flywheel, i always do just because i don't want to do it again lol.

eg2/gsr 07-29-2010 04:34 PM

i never changes my flywheel bolts n never had a problem. r they the right bolts . you could have automatic bolts instead of the manual bolts.
