i dont see anything about the wiring for the vtec for ls-v. and oh if ur car is a obd1 already it stays right??? how bout using hondata s200 with p28 unless i can get a p73 ecu if lucky but is it necessary to get p73 or just go with p28 and hondata s200 and it will be fine???

honduh_head 03-10-2009 02:13 PM

p28's are recommended due to the ease of resocketing them for the hondata (or any other aftermarket programs for that matter)

fRoSt 03-11-2009 01:18 AM

oh i see... then i prolly do just that and get it properly tune after the lsv build... and i got another question... once i get it rebuild to 0 miles on the motor... how many miles do i have to breakin safely until i can go get it dyno tuned... or can i even drive it without getting it tune till i get about 1k or 2k miles... i'm just kinda scured that if i get it dyno tuned right away something will go wrong cuz its gonna be up in the 12 compression zone but under 12.5... thats the most important question i have cuz i never rebuilt the motor and dont know about the break in period or dyno tune right after the build... thnx if reply with all the solution...

honduh_head 03-11-2009 03:02 PM

with the build you are talking about, i would say it would be ready for the dyno immediately... i would turn it over, let it idle for about 30 minutes, making sure there's no leaks or over heating... then do an oil change and take it to the dyno for tuning. just don't get on it at all til it's tuned and you should be good.

fRoSt 03-13-2009 12:20 AM

cool thanx alot... oh and one more question... one of the old black guy at my work place he's a muscle car guy... i asked him out the rebuild to and he said that i have to break the motor in first cuz the piston ring is still new... he said let it break in about 500 mile to 1k mile first b4 dyno... thats just wat i heard from that old black guy that build his 500hp v8... and yes i did sat in it and it was freakin fast... so just askin if he's right also...

honduh_head 03-13-2009 09:32 AM

ehhh, that's up for arguement....do whatever you are comfortable with... IMO rings are seated by the time the motor comes to operating temperature... its the rest of the motor that really needs the break in.

but like i said, do what ever you are comfortable with....it's your motor, your money, your car... it can only help you by waiting.

Good info on here im leaning towards an ls-vtech build myself but im worried about reliability and numbers in power compared to a built ls. Ill keep reading and ask questions in here, thanks for the info tho

honduh_head 04-07-2009 10:47 AM

there should be no difference in relability...in fact i would say a midly built ls-vtec would be more reliable than a fully built ls and still make more power.

hondafan2 06-01-2009 09:02 PM

ok, so i know i should upgrade to arp head bolts if im doing an lsv, but what if i cant get the arp's for whatever reason?
what other headbolts can i use?
b16, type r if the head is either b16 or type r?
and gsr headbolts if its a gsr head?

ILIKETODRIVE 06-03-2009 04:00 PM

If it's a B16 or GSR or ITR head, use GSR/ITR head bolts. B16 head bolts are too short.

They're called head bolts but the length difference between GSR/ITR and B16 head bolts is because the B16 block is shorter.

honduh_head 06-03-2009 07:22 PM

Just get arp head studs man....saves u the mental anguish of possibly blowing a head gasket.

oil pump info

from what i read on this link, how true is it about the oil pumps?

i have heard and not believed, yet, that ALL b series=ls/b20/gsr/itr/ctr/Si oil pumps obd2 are superior to all the previous b series oil pumps. True or not?

honduh_head 06-21-2009 11:11 PM

thats what i understand as well, all 96 and up are the same

btw soroush is a good guy, i've learned a lot of stuff from him ;)
